Sorry it took me a while to reply, I don't look here often. I like Abyssal because generally Swain's in the middle of the enemy team, and because while his ratios are great, I like an AP bruiser more than a true AP Carry, but that comes down to preference honestly.

1 question...do you really need that abyssal when you are already building liandrys and rylas, lot of effective health...wouldnt rabadon or void staff be better?

Thank you, I was thinking about stuffing a bit about the joke in there wasn't really sure if it'd fit in though, and it actually changes the more you do it, it has I think 3(?) different parts.

Just a little irrelevant note, do Swain's joke command in bird form. It says something along the lines of "I think you taste like chicken." Its just fun to hear sometimes.
Back to the actual guide, I also think that RoA is a good item on Swain. With his ult, you need to be pretty close to the center of a fight and you need the health to be tanky enough to suffer through all that damage. And if you snowball (which you will if you play Swain correctly), you will need some defensive items to be able to survive. I feel this guide perfectly covers everything needed.
