Introduction
I play Taric as a support Champion, and I feel that he is the sort of Tanky/AP/Support role. One of the first to get in there and tank everything he can while supporting his team, stunning the enemy Carries, and using his W and R in close range. (like stunning, getting close then spam W R) This does really decent damage with this build, considering I can pretty much knock an every day carry to about half health through the early game and still do a nice chunk of damage late game. Not neglecting on your tanky-ness. As well as that he will also do a good job at healing, because of his AP. Keeping his team members alive so they can continue to fight.
In terms of Farming Taric shouldn't be attacking or using skills on minions, as he is a support character. He should let his team mate (Generally an AD Carry) get the last hits, but even with this in mind he can still take some last hits if the summoner feels the AD Carry will miss them, it will help his gold production early game.
His W does AoE damage, so its great for killing minions, generally taking away half their HP. He can also use his R at times to help out as well, and because he has a low cooldown on his ultimate it will still be ready for the next team fight.
This gives him a reasonable pushing power, but not the best because even though he has these two skills that hit all the minions, the cooldowns are relatively long compared to some of the better pushers. Being usable for 1 out of every 2 - 3 minion waves for pushing, and they are much better used to try and damage an enemy to help get an assist.
