Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Urgot has perhaps one of the best ultimates in the game, if not THE best for ganking and for helping your team to single out target champions. Just like in Phreak's champion spotlight, the main focus of Urgot should be to use Urgot's ult at the most opportune time against the opposing team's squishy carry DPS, such as Ezreal, Twitch, etc.
Item Build Explination:
The item build is a simple concept. You want as much damage as possible, with armor penetration. Armor penetration provides the best addition to your damage output possible with runes. It is simply amazing, and with the rise of tank hybrid DPS champions, armor penetration is a must have.
Doran's blade is the perfect starting item, with additional HP, damage, and the ability to lifesteal, this will increase your damage output, gank survivability, and the ammount of time you can stay in your lane.
Brutalizer is a perfect early item for Urgot, with added damage, cool down reduction for your Q spamming, and armor penetration, this will help you get some early gank kills with no problem.
Mercury treads are here because of the lack of an escape mechanism with Urgot. Save your flash and ghost to escape ganks, and to help you get away after using your ult. Only use your summoner abilities to pursue during a gank if you are guranteed a win and don't anticipate having to escape anytime soon. Urgot has no CC. Also, with all the Galio punks running around, Mercury Treads can simply save your life.
Bloodthirster offers the most damage for a single item of any item once you take advantage of the stacks. Farm your stacks carefully and THEN attack.
Trinity force offers HP, slow, MUCH higher boosted damage with the passive due to your ability spam, a bit of ability power, and mana. This item is essential.
And of course, the cleaver for the amazing armor penetration.
Try to get middle if you can, the sooner you can get to level 6, the earlier you can start ganking. This ultimate is ridiculous, with a long stun, and then switching places with your enemy, running from mid to pick out a single target is almost a guranteed kill. Get your brutalizer, boots of speed, and a few mana potions to ensure you can spam your abilities. Don't forget to get golem buff if you can get it! :)
This is a dangerous time for an Urgot player if you were unable to farm adequetly early on. You probably don't have enough damage stacked up to really be brutal yet. Be conservative, work with your team, use your ult to trap them and do your best to farm as much gold as possible.
Once you start getting your bloodthirsters, Black Cleavers, and Trinity Force, you should be doing amazing DPS. Urgot is a similar concept to a physical damage Ezreal, but his ability to lock onto targets makes it a bit easier. His damage output is slower, and his escape mechnism is nonexistant, but his ultimate is amazing, and his damage potential is significant!
Please thumbs this guide up, and leave sugguestions. :)
