If it's just 2 axes (and not a whole grid) you can easily do it with Microsoft Paint by using the line tool. Just try straight on the picture and save it under a different name to keep the original.

Thanks to GrandMasterD for my sig!
If you dont have photoshop you can try GIMP instead (http://www.gimp.org/), its free and its very similar to photoshop.
Talking about the grid thing, you can do like Mowen says with straight lines over the image or if you use gimp/photoshop you should try inserting a new layer on the image in which you will "paste" the grid thing (that should be treated first removing the white background if not it would collapse with the function's drawing).
There are several guides about how doing this just searching with google like http://photo-info.co.nz/articles/removing-image-backgrounds-gimp and http://www.fabiovisentin.com/tutorial/GIMP_transparent_image/gimp_how_to_make_transparent_image.asp.
The layer thing is very easy and there are guides for it too.
My advice is: before trying yourself this make a backup of the original pictures.
Hope it helps!

I would like the numbers and boxes. imagine like the picture i posted, right over the picture i need it on. That grid but if possible, with smaller squares.. its difficult to discribe.. imagine like a mathematical set of axes, x and y, on graph paper. So basically, take the picture of the logo, put the graph right over it. I wish i could describe it better. Imagine that wasnt a picture, but a function and that function was on a graph. i would like it to look like that. I tried gimp, the transparency messes up though, i cant seem to make it work with clarity

If i am given an image, how to i put axes ON it? I don't have photoshop, that would have been much easier just by adding transparency..
