He is fun to play early to mid game with AP Build with decent support skills but he falls of in late game...
I had an idea (and posted it in my ideas build) for AP Mao.
For ranked i only see Tanky Maokai. AP might work from time to time but it is too unreliable.
If you want a reliable caster for ranked i suggest LeBlanc/Veigar/Annie or Morgana(a bit more supportish but still very deadly)
If you prefer tanky casters than... AP Sion?
So for normals go on and have fun since AP Mao is very fun2play.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I really value your input as I have been following your builds since last year during early beta.
For my ranked games I will probably take a look at Annie then. I tried Veigar out and found that I have no talent with him. LeBlanc is fun, I may take a look at her as well.

What do you think of a Maokai AP only build? Have you thought if it would work, and how well it might work in ranked 5v5 teams?
My current 5v5 team is as follows.
Amumu
Morgana
Kog'Maw
Ashe/Shen (He plays Shen but is looking to go Ashe)
Miss Fortune (I play MF)
So I am looking to possibly switch to Maokai if he will be viable as a DPS champion.
Any advice would be appreciated!
