After some time, Dominion gets REALLY boring.
I really enjoyed it, it's nice not to have to deal with the pressure of fitting into a team comp, farming properly and not feeding. Plus it's fast paced and exciting til the end. I don't think it will replace SR, but there's no need for it to - it's just a fun alternative. You don't have to pick only one to play.
My only complaint so far is that it does seem like certain champs are going to be considerably better than others, so far it seems that tanky dps champions and good 1v1 champions are a lot better because of the constant small 1v1 and 2v2 skirmishes going on. You seem to often find yourself alone or with one other attacking or defending, and which champions are involved make a big difference to whether you can risk attacking the point or have to retreat and defend.
5v5 teamfights seem to be very rare unless a team is getting desperate.
In case anyone was wondering here's the champions I played and how well I did:
AP Janna - Surprisingly not badly, we did this with Potatis playing Rammus with Ghost for ludicrous speed.
Akali - Very good, shroud and shadow dash are great for small group fights.
Xin - Fairly good, Xin's always been strong in 1v1.
Cho'gath - Poorly. Hard to get feast stacks because of how rare minions are, and very easy to lose feast stacks because of how often you die. It seemed hard to hit his skills as well, but might just be because I haven't played in a while.

First game: Irelia, using my Q's blink, my E's stun and my ult for domination (see what I did there?). She can push people of objectives like a boss, unfortunately I had no clue what to do untill 5 minutes into the game. I might have to work on my build.
Second game: Pantheon, oh boy! Stunning people on my objectives, mandropping and getting a tripple kill :D!, easy farming, this boy does it all. Unfotunately he lacks real movement speed and he's quite easy to pick off (despite his passive).
Hating: Rammus (shivver), Master Yi (flies all over the map, you can't capture while he's alive) and Riven (high mobility and quick stuns will ruin your day).
Dominion seems fun but bad teammates are an even bigger pain in the *** then on SR or TT.
