1) Q: Who was the last champion you designed?
A: The only one thats out from me is Pantheon. I'm currently working on one. She's very cute.
2) Q: What changes do you have in store for Jax?
A: I'm actually not sure yet. I think due to the changes that were made to dodge vs on next hit spells, we can maybe bump his passive up again. Or the ideal change- give him a new passive. ( I pretty much hate his current passive with a passion ).
3) Q: I know you all are looking at Jax. As a Jax fan and a person who wants to see him be a viable character, can I ask you what you believe the problems with jax to be? What are the crux of his issues, in the balance teams mind?
A: He just doesn't have the right burst to survivability ratio that a lot of the other characters have. Another major problem is one of his spells is unusable unless you get a dodge, which is getting a lot harder to use nowadays with spells like Mystic Shot.
4) Q: Whats it like to work at riot?
A: Its stressful at times, but in general it owns. = )
5) Q: Any rammy buffs to look forward to? :<
A: Nothing at the moment, sorry. We're looking into terribad characters, since I believe none of the characters are super S-Tiered OP.

A: I hope so. = (
7) Q: What is Alistar's role on a team, and how do his abilities contribute to that role? I'd also like to hear your thoughts on him in general, especially his passive.
A: He's supposed to be tank (primary) / disruptor / pusher. At the moment he's not really being looked at, but he's in queue. We generally take 2-4 characters per patch.
8) Q: Will Corki be getting any more consideration soon? His range buff was excellent but I still feel a bit more could be done to bring him up to par. Also, where do you see Gragas right now in terms of balance? He's definitely not weak but becomes woefully satisfactory as the game goes on.
A: Thats it for now, but we're always evaluating characters. Current character evaluations on my board are:

9) Q: Are there any changes in store to bring Morgana a little more in line with other casters? Having an ability on a short cooldown that trumps most ults, AND can be cast on other players is a bit too good.
A: I honestly thinks he's ok right now... her AP ratios on shield and ult *might* be too high, but for now... I'm really not sure.
10) Q: is their any changes on Warwick Tundra hunter design cuz it kinda o.o"
A: Maybe he should have a doggie collar. = )
11) Q: What are your thoughts on AP Shaco?
A: Not a Primary Build. Its sort of like DPS annie.
12) Q: Is anything going to be happening with urgot or galio. I barely ever seem them played.
A: m not sure what to do with Urgot at the moment... we'll look at him soon. As for Galio, I did a bit of research on him and I think he's close.
13) Q: Do you have statistics on win percentages on champions? imo that would be a great way to help balance, particularly if you could filter out games w/ the champion on both teams, and filter by Elo.
A: I know we have the stats, but filters would be nice.
14) Q: What has been the most challenging champion to make/balance/etc.?
A: Evelynn by far is the hardest to balance. We keep learning new things about her everyday that affects our design decisions. Since our game is always evolving... I think thats a good thing.
15) Q: why the design team has not yet implemented a diminishing returns system on crowd control spells? (aka every successive crowd control spell is less and less effective on the same target in a short period of time, just like in wow)
stunlock/aoe teams are basically uncounterable because even if you get out of 1 control you'll just eat another 1-2 for the full duration
A: I don't really like diminishing returns at all... I don't feel that (especially in our type of game) that not knowing the duration of your spells hurts. I feel like we already have merc treads... which already gives off that feeling. I wouldn't want to have more.
16) Q: Are your plans to make Jax a pure AD fighter, Hybrid fighter or full AP fighter? (Full AP pls? )
A: I believe its Heavy Melee DPS that we're aiming for.
17) Q: Are there any plans for more "utility" spells like Alistar's Headbutt + Anivia's Wall + Sortof Urgot's Ult, spells who's use can be drastically different depending on the situation, less of a click and X happens everytime thing.
A: I think they're spells with really neat mechanics. Since they're neat I'm sure we'll be working on them!
18) Q: Is riot done beating ezreal in the face with what used to be jax's weapon?
He was too strong. He is nice now, solid tier 2 fun champ.
A: For now... he's still solid A-Tier.
19) Q: How do you feel about the current tanky dps meta game? Do you enjoy it? and how does affect the balance of future Champions?
A: I think its good that melee can fight now, however a problem that presents itself is when a champion is super tanky and can dish out Glass-DPS class damage.
20) Q: when designing new maps do you expect that some champions/champion types will be stronger than others?
A: We try to minimize power creep whenever possible, however power creep is just a byproduct of making things more enjoyable.
21) Q: How do you feel about Ricochet?
I am of the opinion that it is a skill that is inherently hard to balance, in an ideal situation it boosts Sivir's dps by well over 300%, but it is extremely easy to mitigate the damage by sitting near minions, spreading out, or even throwing down wards. I would like to see it reworked into some state where its power is more dependent on the person playing Sivir than on the people Sivir is playing against.
A: I actually think Sivir as a whole is not really in a bad spot. I think she's probably the most underrated champion right now. Ricochet not only gives her some mad dps, but it allows her to push lanes like no other. I think she's a good utility/off-dps choice.
22) Q: In respects to teemo, what direction do you plan to go in with the buffs that morello mentioned in another thread. Personally, I really like jungle teemo and am curious if you plan on making that aspect of him more viable.
A: We plan to push Teemo into the Utility-archetype rather than Ranged DPS. We plan to buff mostly his utility aspects, moreso than his DPS aspects. Imagine if Teemo dished out Tristana-tier damage... it would be the most frustrating thing ever!
23) Q: When will older, lower tier champs start seeing more frequent buffs to bring them up to speed with top tier champs? Especially Eve....I <3 Eve...
A: We've been working on eve. The problem is everytime we get close to shipping her, we gain some new insight or new information that causes us to rethink what we are doing with her. Not to mention there are some very loyal Eve fans out there that enjoy some of her less-known aspects.
24) Q: Will Amumu ever be taken down a notch / what are your thoughts on him?
A: I think he's ok. He just fits VERY well into the meta.
25) Q: Can u tell us users approx. when or around is the Mac version of LoL coming out? please dont say u dont know anything, i know u know at least some, we Mac users have been waiting for months just to play ur game on our Macs
A: We've been working it and I believe it is currently in testing. I know it somewhat works, but is buggy. I'm not sure when it'll come out.
26) Q: Are there plans to rebalance original 40some champion mana cost schemes to be more in line with new champs mana costs and mana regen.
For instance, Annie, who has mana costs that scale up very fast, compared to say Galio, as well as older champs in general having lower base mana regen.
A: It's really on a case by case basis. For example, I know that Annie has pretty high mana costs, but since she's not really that underpowered, I think she should be left alone until we can resolve some other issues.
27) Q: When will we see an energy based champion that is a twist on the 'bard' type character from RPGs? In other words, when do I get to design my 'guitar hero' champ that brings synergy to teams by playing his/her guitar?
A: You never know! I can't say for sure. As for bards, you will be pleasantly surprised soon
28) Q:Why is every champion OP. If they are all OP, wouldnt they all be balanced?
A: Technically they would be balanced if they're on the same level. Something that is 1 million kilograms is balanced with something else that is 1 million kilograms is it not? = )
Balance is relative.
29) Q: Is Koggy-Woggy too strong?
A: He has an HP percentage based attack. Attacks like that naturally shred pretty hard. I think that if we do nerf him, he doesnt need that much.
30) Q: what's the update on twisted fate?
A: Nothing at the moment, but we'll look into him soon. We can probably nudge a few numbers up, but I think his damage should be a bit lower than other similar DPS types due to his map utility.
31) Q:Just wondering if u could give us a hint on what your planning on reworking for teemo and eve?
A: Eve is kind of up in the air right now. As for Teemo we determined we want to put him into a Utility role rather than a Hard Ranged carry role. So we will be increasing his utility power.
32) Q: Has the idea of letting Akali Shadow Dash to friendlies while inside her Shroud ever come up, is it something you have considered and do you find Akali to be balanced or on the UP-side in high elo and an effective pubstomper, kinda like Eve?
A: I think Akali is in a decent spot at the moment and she fulfills her role pretty well. As far as dashing to allies, this has come up and we considered it and determined that it would be a bad idea for now.
33) Q: Do you think the lichbane/sheen changes are a nerf to some champions(I play akali myself and I know it slows my burst down somewhat) that previously got the item almost every match? and, if so, will those champions now be able to get some changes to them now that the silly burst from those items has been toned down?
A: I feel like it did unintentionally nerf some champions burst wise, but increased sustain. We're looking into the effects of this.
34) Q: How seriously have you considered making the aura on Sunfire Cape unique? I have read many posts requesting this change, and personally agree with the change. Riot seems to frown upon stacking, so why hasn't this issue been addressed yet?
A: We've seriously thought about it, and honestly we're thinking about it right now. I just worry about what it would do for some fun builds like Sunfire Vladimir. There might be a more elegant solution, but we are looking into Sunfire Cape at the moment.
Part of the problem is it has the offensive-defensive thing going on which is always bad. Also it self synergizes armor+hp. You effectively gain more HP from the item since it has armor on it.
35) Q: I don't play tanks, I don't think I'd be a good initiation, and I also don't have a lot of RP.
What Tank Champion should I buy to help balance my teams? (Had to make it balance related somehow!)
A: I'm not sure how many points you have, but Rammus and Amumu are good since they sub-class as junglers. You bring two types of utility to a team instead of one!
36) Q: How do you prioritize nerfs/buffs with a constant influx of incoming champions, does it become harder to consider people in queue when theres constantly new champs coming?
A: A lot of it is based on internal tier lists, but a big factor is also how easy the changes are. For example- Jax isn't as big a problem as Evelyn, but he has less complicated changes which we can roll out faster... due to this he'll probably be changed before Evelynn.
The new champions/content thing is a challenge... every patch puts more strain on the live team.
37) Q: I made a thread on this earlier, but is it intentional that Pirate's Remove Scurvy does not remove suppression?
A: Yes this is intended
38) Q: are you satisfied with katarina's laning phase?
she has gone from arguably the best mid, to a good but mildly lackluster mid
keeping up with ez/vlad/ken is a lot harder now
is she fine in your opinion?
A: I don't think Katarina is fine... but I don't think she's auto dodge. She can definitely use some work. I think some numbers tweaks could do it for her. The problem that arose was that she is a strong laner at all stages in the game. I'm not actually sure if thats even a problem right now though.
39) Q: anything being looked into for gragas? or is he fine as now
A: He's ok I think, and a bit underrated. He's not a priority right now... although I think barrel roll could use some love.

A: Not a Primary Build. Its sort of like DPS annie.
12) Q: Is anything going to be happening with urgot or galio. I barely ever seem them played.
A: m not sure what to do with Urgot at the moment... we'll look at him soon. As for Galio, I did a bit of research on him and I think he's close.
13) Q: Do you have statistics on win percentages on champions? imo that would be a great way to help balance, particularly if you could filter out games w/ the champion on both teams, and filter by Elo.
A: I know we have the stats, but filters would be nice.
14) Q: What has been the most challenging champion to make/balance/etc.?
A: Evelynn by far is the hardest to balance. We keep learning new things about her everyday that affects our design decisions. Since our game is always evolving... I think thats a good thing.
15) Q: why the design team has not yet implemented a diminishing returns system on crowd control spells? (aka every successive crowd control spell is less and less effective on the same target in a short period of time, just like in wow)
stunlock/aoe teams are basically uncounterable because even if you get out of 1 control you'll just eat another 1-2 for the full duration
A: I don't really like diminishing returns at all... I don't feel that (especially in our type of game) that not knowing the duration of your spells hurts. I feel like we already have merc treads... which already gives off that feeling. I wouldn't want to have more.
16) Q: Are your plans to make Jax a pure AD fighter, Hybrid fighter or full AP fighter? (Full AP pls? )
A: I believe its Heavy Melee DPS that we're aiming for.
17) Q: Are there any plans for more "utility" spells like Alistar's Headbutt + Anivia's Wall + Sortof Urgot's Ult, spells who's use can be drastically different depending on the situation, less of a click and X happens everytime thing.
A: I think they're spells with really neat mechanics. Since they're neat I'm sure we'll be working on them!
18) Q: Is riot done beating ezreal in the face with what used to be jax's weapon?
He was too strong. He is nice now, solid tier 2 fun champ.
A: For now... he's still solid A-Tier.
19) Q: How do you feel about the current tanky dps meta game? Do you enjoy it? and how does affect the balance of future Champions?
A: I think its good that melee can fight now, however a problem that presents itself is when a champion is super tanky and can dish out Glass-DPS class damage.
20) Q: when designing new maps do you expect that some champions/champion types will be stronger than others?
A: We try to minimize power creep whenever possible, however power creep is just a byproduct of making things more enjoyable.
21) Q: How do you feel about Ricochet?
I am of the opinion that it is a skill that is inherently hard to balance, in an ideal situation it boosts Sivir's dps by well over 300%, but it is extremely easy to mitigate the damage by sitting near minions, spreading out, or even throwing down wards. I would like to see it reworked into some state where its power is more dependent on the person playing Sivir than on the people Sivir is playing against.
A: I actually think Sivir as a whole is not really in a bad spot. I think she's probably the most underrated champion right now. Ricochet not only gives her some mad dps, but it allows her to push lanes like no other. I think she's a good utility/off-dps choice.
22) Q: In respects to teemo, what direction do you plan to go in with the buffs that morello mentioned in another thread. Personally, I really like jungle teemo and am curious if you plan on making that aspect of him more viable.
A: We plan to push Teemo into the Utility-archetype rather than Ranged DPS. We plan to buff mostly his utility aspects, moreso than his DPS aspects. Imagine if Teemo dished out Tristana-tier damage... it would be the most frustrating thing ever!
23) Q: When will older, lower tier champs start seeing more frequent buffs to bring them up to speed with top tier champs? Especially Eve....I <3 Eve...
A: We've been working on eve. The problem is everytime we get close to shipping her, we gain some new insight or new information that causes us to rethink what we are doing with her. Not to mention there are some very loyal Eve fans out there that enjoy some of her less-known aspects.
24) Q: Will Amumu ever be taken down a notch / what are your thoughts on him?
A: I think he's ok. He just fits VERY well into the meta.
25) Q: Can u tell us users approx. when or around is the Mac version of LoL coming out? please dont say u dont know anything, i know u know at least some, we Mac users have been waiting for months just to play ur game on our Macs
A: We've been working it and I believe it is currently in testing. I know it somewhat works, but is buggy. I'm not sure when it'll come out.
26) Q: Are there plans to rebalance original 40some champion mana cost schemes to be more in line with new champs mana costs and mana regen.
For instance, Annie, who has mana costs that scale up very fast, compared to say Galio, as well as older champs in general having lower base mana regen.
A: It's really on a case by case basis. For example, I know that Annie has pretty high mana costs, but since she's not really that underpowered, I think she should be left alone until we can resolve some other issues.
27) Q: When will we see an energy based champion that is a twist on the 'bard' type character from RPGs? In other words, when do I get to design my 'guitar hero' champ that brings synergy to teams by playing his/her guitar?
A: You never know! I can't say for sure. As for bards, you will be pleasantly surprised soon
28) Q:Why is every champion OP. If they are all OP, wouldnt they all be balanced?
A: Technically they would be balanced if they're on the same level. Something that is 1 million kilograms is balanced with something else that is 1 million kilograms is it not? = )
Balance is relative.
29) Q: Is Koggy-Woggy too strong?
A: He has an HP percentage based attack. Attacks like that naturally shred pretty hard. I think that if we do nerf him, he doesnt need that much.
30) Q: what's the update on twisted fate?
A: Nothing at the moment, but we'll look into him soon. We can probably nudge a few numbers up, but I think his damage should be a bit lower than other similar DPS types due to his map utility.
31) Q:Just wondering if u could give us a hint on what your planning on reworking for teemo and eve?
A: Eve is kind of up in the air right now. As for Teemo we determined we want to put him into a Utility role rather than a Hard Ranged carry role. So we will be increasing his utility power.
32) Q: Has the idea of letting Akali Shadow Dash to friendlies while inside her Shroud ever come up, is it something you have considered and do you find Akali to be balanced or on the UP-side in high elo and an effective pubstomper, kinda like Eve?
A: I think Akali is in a decent spot at the moment and she fulfills her role pretty well. As far as dashing to allies, this has come up and we considered it and determined that it would be a bad idea for now.
33) Q: Do you think the lichbane/sheen changes are a nerf to some champions(I play akali myself and I know it slows my burst down somewhat) that previously got the item almost every match? and, if so, will those champions now be able to get some changes to them now that the silly burst from those items has been toned down?
A: I feel like it did unintentionally nerf some champions burst wise, but increased sustain. We're looking into the effects of this.
34) Q: How seriously have you considered making the aura on Sunfire Cape unique? I have read many posts requesting this change, and personally agree with the change. Riot seems to frown upon stacking, so why hasn't this issue been addressed yet?
A: We've seriously thought about it, and honestly we're thinking about it right now. I just worry about what it would do for some fun builds like Sunfire Vladimir. There might be a more elegant solution, but we are looking into Sunfire Cape at the moment.
Part of the problem is it has the offensive-defensive thing going on which is always bad. Also it self synergizes armor+hp. You effectively gain more HP from the item since it has armor on it.
35) Q: I don't play tanks, I don't think I'd be a good initiation, and I also don't have a lot of RP.
What Tank Champion should I buy to help balance my teams? (Had to make it balance related somehow!)
A: I'm not sure how many points you have, but Rammus and Amumu are good since they sub-class as junglers. You bring two types of utility to a team instead of one!
36) Q: How do you prioritize nerfs/buffs with a constant influx of incoming champions, does it become harder to consider people in queue when theres constantly new champs coming?
A: A lot of it is based on internal tier lists, but a big factor is also how easy the changes are. For example- Jax isn't as big a problem as Evelyn, but he has less complicated changes which we can roll out faster... due to this he'll probably be changed before Evelynn.
The new champions/content thing is a challenge... every patch puts more strain on the live team.
37) Q: I made a thread on this earlier, but is it intentional that Pirate's Remove Scurvy does not remove suppression?
A: Yes this is intended
38) Q: are you satisfied with katarina's laning phase?
she has gone from arguably the best mid, to a good but mildly lackluster mid
keeping up with ez/vlad/ken is a lot harder now
is she fine in your opinion?
A: I don't think Katarina is fine... but I don't think she's auto dodge. She can definitely use some work. I think some numbers tweaks could do it for her. The problem that arose was that she is a strong laner at all stages in the game. I'm not actually sure if thats even a problem right now though.
39) Q: anything being looked into for gragas? or is he fine as now
A: He's ok I think, and a bit underrated. He's not a priority right now... although I think barrel roll could use some love.
