We already had an adc one going so I thought a discussion on supports would tie in nicely as well C:

Supports: Leona, Alistar, Thresh, Lulu, Janna, Soraka, Taric, Nami, Blitzcrank, Sona, Nunu, Karma, Zyra, Fiddlesticks, Elise, Lux
(If I missed any, make sure to tell me :3)

What do you think would be a sutiable tier list?
I personally find something like...

Tier 1: Thresh, Sona, Lulu
Tier 2: Taric, Zyra, Alistar, Janna
Tier 3: Blitzcrank, Leona, Elise, Fiddlesticks, Nunu, Lux, Karma, Nami, Soraka

Unknown: Nami is currently the most misplaced as of now, I have found some Nami's destroy but others are useless. Lux is also in the same boat, I personally don't find her to be too great so I will just leave her in tier 3.

I am basically going off usuage and success in the LCS here, pure speculation at best.
This tier list is by no means accurate thus far, just my opinion in the current meta!

So.. What do you guys think? Who are the best supports? Make sure to give valid reasoning if you strongly believe in a certain champions viability as a support.

Thresh is his own tier.
Thresh tier.

Beyond that pretty much looks right. Karma is lower tier 3 material.

I shouldn't have to say why Thresh is the best support in the game.

Totally agree with you.
I'll give him his GOD TIER as rightfully deserved.
He is just waaaaaaay too strong at the moment.

Plus his skin is quite awesome.

I'm also iffy about Nami's placement. She has the capacity to be overpowered, she has all the right tools to be so, but they are very hard to use.

If she took as little effort to play as Sona does she'd be so broken. I still enjoy her though. :]

You didn't place Leona
It's probably worth mentioning Fiddlesticks and Elise as well.

Wouldn't place thresh in God tier, but he's probably the top of tier 1. God tier implies that he is so far superior to any other support that he is impossible/near impossible to beat, and I don't think that's true

Tier 1 is pretty accurate except I'd move Thresh down to tier 1

Tier 2 - Janna is too high. She requires a 2v1 lane, because she's so weak in a 2v2 lane Blitzcrank is probably too high in Tier 2, maybe even tier 3 material

Tier 3 - fairly accurate, Alistar might be low tier 2 material.

Karma is a low tier 3, above Soraka maybe above Nami sort of depends. She's get buffs across the board on her kit so that should help her. But her manta CD at level 1 is 45 seconds which is nearly 20 seconds higher than her old mantra (it was 26) and even that was seen as way too long. They need to tune her mantra CD down to like 18 seconds, if that. They could probably increase the ratio on her Mantra'd Q proc as well

Leona is probably a mid tier 3 champ, Fiddlesticks is probably mid tier 3, Elise is probably high tier 3

reason for these placements - Leona is an all in champ, fiddle is a niche pick easily countered by taric and sona, and elise is probably a niche pick as well

all in all a surprisingly not absolute trash tier list

Yeah Nami's hard to place. If someone lands Q with nami, nami's easily within the 2nd tier, but if they suck the D, then nami's probably t3.

I wouldn't rank Janna as highly on that tier. She is a god at disengages with her Howling Gale + Monsoon, and can hold turrets forever with Eye Of The Storm, but she REALLY gets messed up against AoE team comps like AP yi, kat, and champs like MF just to name a couple.

Blitzcrank actually might even be tier 3 - just because people legit don't know how to play him. Rocket Grab is actually a really tough skill to master, because not only does blitzcrank have to hit a target wiht Rocket Grab to be effective at all, but blitzcrank has to hit the RIGHT target with rocket grab. For instance, if a Blitzcrank pulls a karthus, or a galio or someone, that's REALLY not good for a team fight.

nunu's actually a really strong support with the kit that he has. However, he is like 100% reliant on your carry to dominate. If your carry has the dumb and always gets caught, he's actually really weak.

Alistar is in my opinion, really underrated. He can set up ganks well, does good early game damage, is tanky, has peel, and heals. While cowman lacks mobility, and can possibly be a little mana hungry in the early levels, he is definitely not a t3 pick. He's jsut fallen out of popularity - not fallen out of viability

Made a lot of the changes you suggested, they seemed pretty accurate.
I personally love Elise support and I completely forgot about Fiddlesticks.
Though I think Leona may need to be a little higher... SORRY FOR FORGETTING HER!!

Janna doesn't seem that bad though, she has one of the highest win rates of all champs right now.
As with Nami, I am terrible with her, but I think she probably needs to be higher, I just don't know her well enough to judge that.

Changes have been made, believe you were right on the money though.
This seems to be coming together a lot better than I thought it would XD
All comments are valid, I don't cre how trash the tier list is, we can rebuild it!!
