Sometimes no matter how much planning ahead I do, I have to leave a game to attend to sudden events that occur. From the dog having a accident on the floor or needing to run out the house to attend to important errands that come up.

I can't anticipate every match will be completely open. I do my best to play during times I wont be bothered but planning your life around a videogame isn't that easy. Part of why I stick to playing normals versus ranked usually.

Just wondering how Riot deals with the occasional leave.

The occasional leave doesn't really matter much. It's when it becomes a large problem, like once or twice a week, where you start getting penalties for it.

Honestly I leave all the time in the middle of the game to get a Redbull or a cup of coffee. But I play Mordekaiser so it doesn't even matter. You can miss like 10 minutes of the game, but Morde is so strong you can come back and still 1 shot people, even fully built tanks. So I'd recommend picking him up, because that's how you win ranked games. Your team might rage at you for leaving, even though you'll carry, so just mute and report them immediately at the start of the game.

If you want you can check out my Mordekaiser Guide Once a month I update it daily.
