The League Championship Series summer promotion and relegation tournaments are now in the books. This part of the year is always exciting and tense for fans and teams alike. After all, last year it was the North American juggernauts, Cloud 9, that fought to get into the LCS and went on to rule North America's summer season, making it to Worlds.
There is a similar story in the making in North America again this year. The Chinese team, LMQ, moved over to North America late in 2013 for a chance to make it into the LCS. That chance came this past weekend and they made the most of it by beating up on XDG to secure their spot in the LCS. LMQ could be a top 3 team this summer.
Another newcomer will be compLexity.Black aka To Be Determined. They overcame a talented but inconsistent Team Coast to earn their spot back into the premier competition in North America. The win means the return of Westrice, Brokenshard, and pr0lly to LCS play and fulfills ROBERTxLEE's dream of being in the LCS. Oh and a former MOBAFire TV streamer, Bubbadub, has now done it!
Across the pond, Europe remained intact. Despite Millenium going down 2-0 to Ninjas in Pyjamas, they battled back to reclaim their spot in the LCS. Supa Hot Crew and Copenhagen Wolves both defended their spots easily.
In other news, Team Solomid decided to bench Xpecial. Team owner, Reginald, said this on his Facebook page:
I have always made my roster decisions based on the entire team's feedback and would never make a business decision because of personal reasons. I truly believe that everything I do is to benefit TSM.
My personal opinion is that Reginald is sending Xpecial a wake up call before the summer split. But for all I know, this guy will try out and win the spot (Caution: Language):
What do you think about the newcomers to the NA LCS? Do you think that Millenium, Supa Hot Crew, and Copenhagen Wolves can do well enough to not be in relegation again at the end of the summer? What do you think about TSM benching Xpecial? Do you think it is a good move or will it backfire on them?
