Gone Home and Shadow Warrior 75% off!

Also other games, but those two are very new games and this is the biggest discount so far.

gone home still isn't worth 5 dollars what the ****. gone home (and all the gaming 'press' the game 'journalists' put out about it) shows everything wrong with the current industry.

how a 'game' such as gone home has gotten such monumental praise is sickening.

Hey, some people define games as interactive experiences, and just because it's not a classic game does not make it bad.

Different =/= bad.

That said, I have no idea of how good an interactive experience this is.

intereactive experience is not a game. theres no gameplay, no challenges, nothing but walking and story. video games should be judged FIRST on their gameplay. i'm tired of seeing all these ****ing games being branded as the future of the medium which are bland first/third person cover-based shooters with a huge emphasis on an extremely generic plot or characters.

if you want a story, read a book. if you want a cinematic experience, watch a movie. if you want a video GAME, play video games. (what a hard concept to grasp)

That is YOUR definition of a game.
Why would yours be any more correct than a reviewer that defines it as an interactive experience?
There's has been much confusion over the precise definition of a game now that the industry has widened to these extremes.

You're just being opinionated, narrow-minded and stereotypical. Stop that if you want others to take you seriously..

Gotta agree with Searz here...

Don't assume that your standards of what a "good game is" is the general standard everyone is looking for.

I personally enjoy being immersed in a game focused on plot rather than a book or a movie because games make me feel as if I'm actually interacting with the story.

Others enjoy casual and simple games.

There are general standards like music plot gameplay, but it's not like a game who has the best gameplay is better than a game that has the best music or plot -___- all subjective

Ima just leave this here. Because otherwise I'll hafta' write a long post, and no one wants that.

Anyway. Legend of Grimrock is on sale now, and that game is awesome. Great puzzles and some nice, claustrophobic dungeon crawling.

yeah, legend of grimrock was pretty sweet. waiting for the second.

anyway. would gone home get such MONUMENTAL praise if it was instead a 2 hour movie of someone walking around a house piecing together this story from scraps of paper?

no, it would be a piss-poor movie with a mediocre plot and terrible writing. the interactivity literally adds nothing to gone home and yet you'll find huge circlejerks over its ****ty writing that last longer than the game itself does.

i also find it funny how i can consider this story the worst to come out in 2013 yet bioshock infinite exists.

I don't know. Maybe Gone Home would've worked as well as a movie. I doubt it, but I'd really have to play it to have any real idea.

And I don't think that you have to like Gone Home, nor do I think that you have to agree that it's good. I just don't want you to attack it as not being a game. There's nothing useful to be had from a discussion about whether or not things like Gone Home are games; they are in our medium, whether we like it or not, and trying to cut them out just means that we lose out on potentially great things like The Stanley Parable. Feel free to hate on Gone Home for bad writing, ****py gameplay, and whatever else. Gaming is rife with exactly these problems. But we won't get better writing, better gameplay, better narrative, or better anything else if we decide that things that push the boundaries and have problems aren't actually games.

Also, I doubt the interactivity adds literally nothing to Gone Home. If you put down the game and walk away, it sits and waits for you to come back. You aren't just a passive observer. The game still requires your input to move forward, unlike a movie. That is something interactivity adds to the game. You mean that the gameplay is bad. So just say that the gameplay is bad.
