at the very least, know how to make the basic stuff pasta, rice, fied eggs and meat. You should be able to know enough to never have to resort to going to the canteen, just in case it sucks(and even if it doesn't, you will have to learn how to cook for yourself eventually anyway)

I guess that will work out eventually anyway but I guess making use of my free time now isn't that bad of an idea.
