Spirited Away, Ponyo, Trigun Badlands Rumble, Redline, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, The Cat Returns, Highlander The Search for Vengeance, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Jin Roh The Wolf Brigade and others I can't remember right now.

Regarding horror shows, i've just started Boogiepop Phantom (it's "old" - 2000 - and the animation sucks big time) but most people talk highly of it.
Still on the classics, there's a few that are personal classics but I don't think it's mainstream (Vandread 1st and 2nd stages, X - the series, FullMetal Panic)
