I don't think there really is too much to a headset driver. Most of it you should be able to edit in your control panel by just adjusting volume that way, etc. If it works I don't think there should be much of a problem but the drivers probably don't have much that's significant to the quality of the sound, it's more your sound card and headset itself (the 7H is a great headset from the reviews I've seen).

Ohw, it seems I actually forgot to write the reason for me wanting to get a driver for it working; There's been some noisemaking from my microphone. It's very weird. It just appears out of the blue, and all the people that I'm on skype with says "Dude! Your mic!" and "Fix mic!" even though it isn't anything I can do anything about. It's gotten me pretty frustrated.
I saw many reviews of it since I bought it, and the noise started only something like 2 weeks after I first got it.
I have already disallowed any program to control the headset or mic, so it shouldn't be that.
My last, fearfull guess might be that the stick is smashed, and makes disconnections from time to time.
It just seems weird, since I can sit completely still while gaming, then they complain about my mic, I keep sitting still, and they say "thanks" for fixing it, even though I did absolutely nothing x.x
Anyone have any ideas to what it might be / what I could do? :S

Maybe some wiring of the mic itself has gone loose? Not sure that any driver would be able to fix this. You may want to make a recording of yourself just talking in your mic waiting for some sort of spike or annoyance in the mic just to see what's happening.

Yeah... I'd really get sad if it was because of the wires in the mic.. :S
The thing with the driver is, that when I download it, and have the folder lying around in the Mozilla Firefox folder, which is default, then when I talk to people on skype, they can barely hear me. First, it changes both sources of sound and my mic, but there's still only one mic to choose from in the control panel.. :P
And about the recording; I could ofc do that. I have a program for it after all, so I might as well do that. I think I'll try it out later today when talking on skype :P
So far, my fears are that some of the connection aren't sitting completely safe and sound. The stick that goes into the headset is sitting rather loose. (If you've seen reviews etc, you'd know that it is possible to take this stick out in order to make it travelfriendly) I am usually able to fix the sound just from moving a bit on that stick, however it seems odd that it also goes away when I sit completely still, so I'm kind of lost as to what it might be.. :S

Hey again guys. Umm. I finally did that recording. I'm not sure if this counts as resparking an old thread, but I guess I am indeed doing so, but I just want to say that I came across the thread, and did the recording.
I'm not really sure how I can give it to you? o_o it's a .wav file btw. I used the program Audacity to record it, and now know what my friends are (still) going through when talking to me.
Could anyone give me a place to upload it so that you guys can hear it? oo'

I really have no idea if it is actually possible to get a new headset. I bought it online, but I can't remember from where(I can find out though - probably some danish gaming site that sells that kinda stuff).
IN ANY CASE: I successfully installed the driver for the headset, and the noise I've been talking about so far actually seems to have completely stopped.
HOWEVER, with this one problem solved, two new ones have occured.
1: There's a constant "BEEP" - "BEEP" - "BEEP" coming from it, no matter what. So far my friends have said that that is better than what it usually did, but still it kind of annoys me (obviously).
2: At random times, the microphone likes to randomly make my voice very low, which is something it did not do before I installed the driver. It might seem that the beeping might be the source of the random voice-lowering, though, since it's oftenly after I haven't said anything for a while.
Note to this: I have removed allowance of programs controlling my mic volume in the Control Panel, as well as told Skype that it isn't allowed to control it in any way, either.

So, umm. Since I can't find a living thing on google except for reviews and stuff about the headset when searching, I wanted to ask you, if anyone else is in possession of this headset (SteelSeries 7H USB), and if you could tell me just what is the deal with the driver for it?? o.o
I'm kinda lost. When I download, and installed it for the first time, my AVG Free detected some Malware. Not sure about that. I decided to let it pass, since I downloaded the driver from SteelSeries own website. Now. Once I've downloaded the .exe-file and run it afterwards, is that all?
I was imagining that I should be able to edit sound options etc. with this driver? Or is it just there for lulz? o.i
When I try to run "Autorun", it starts something called Art Icons or something, where it then says that I am not registered, and my free trial has expired. (I got the headset a long time ago, by now)
Another thing to note: Is it supposed to be installed inside the Mozilla Firefox folder? o.o That was at least the default it set for me, lol.
I really have no experience with driversoftware what so ever, so some help would be highly appretiated. Thanks :S
