I guess you could help push down towers later, but I don't see the marks making much of a difference since generally you need your team to help push them down. Compared to the early game advantage that MPen can give you, I wouldn't trade that for the ability to kill a tower 2 seconds faster.
What Jebus said. MrP is simply much stronger than AS on anyone who focuses on magic dmg.

I use AS marks on Mundo sometimes, his low base AS makes them really awesome.

Searz actually proved that with a mix of ArPen and AS that Udyr is a faster jungler.
I think that Xin Zhao and Irelia need pure AS marks to jungle, however.

that sounds like a valid point to me (as unless their stupid almost everyone gets some kind of mr or armor outside their base amount.)
