Thanks for the input!
I was indeed planning on using spoiler tabs to cover certain sections of the guide, like parts that are geared towards beginners or extra info or things like that. I'll also be using pacing and paying close attention to my writing to (hopefully) make it as easy to read as possible.

Sounds like you want to make a "General" guide, that is a guide type you can select. It sounds similar to the jungling / top lane guides, but for support. I think that would be a good idea, and sounds very interesting. :) A lot of new players don't understand the role of support and this could be very helpful!
Also, welcome to the forums! ^.^

Thanks to Minho for my sig!
Awesome! Thank you guys for taking the time to read my idea and tell me what you think about it. :D
Since there has at least been -some- positive response, I'll get started on it, and hopefully I'll continue to receive more input as I do. Of course, I'll never link to it in this thread.
Thanks again!

I recently became inspired to write a guide, and had an idea. In the guides I see on this site, I rarely find what I feel are sound, logical explanations for decisions that are made, be it about item choices or play techniques, and I think that this is a shame. This is no attempt to doubt the veracity of the information, but I feel that their reasoning relies on common sense and experience, which is difficult to relay via text. Logical explanations are clear and concise, and require only evidence to support.
That being said, I was wondering if there would be a place for a guide which attempts to analyze in-depth the support role and all of the gameplay therein, for the purpose of helping people to better understand the reasoning behind the decision making in order to better equip them to use it to improve their game. Instead of providing builds and giving spell combo orders, it will instead use Soraka as an example, and analyze each aspect of a typical game with her as a support, ranging from the masteries and runes all the way up to the situations that can arise in the game, as well as covering generally good practices such as warding, map awareness, etc. I primarily play support and do very well, but the information provided in the guide won't even need experience to back it up; it will use only information that is readily available or easily observable to establish a basis, and will only use anecdotal experience in order to bolster or help illustrate.
It is my belief that a guide like this will help the players that read it to be smarter gamers, who instead of using cookie cutter builds that they find, they begin to tailor each build to the game it was used in. It could even wind up generating more discussion about, which could in turn create a more diverse game for us all. I was wondering if you guys would be interested, or if you even think it's a good idea. I don't want to spend a lot of time on something that nobody wants to read.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will be happy to explain anything you'd like.
