With most of my tanks I often get a heart of gold, but recently I have noticed a massive lack in my gold. So would I be better off on getting a philo stone for the GP5? I often get a doran's shield, and since I give like 75% of the cs to my carries, and well you see my problem.

Get both. Also, if you're tanking, you should be top or jungling. Not being bot or mid taking farm unless you have to.

Okay thanks, and I'm assuming that is for jungling tanks such as Shen, Amumu, and Rammus?

Also Jarvan IV, Alistar and Maokai or Malphite if you feel like jungling with them.

All jungle tanks need a leash at blue don't they, otherwise they get critcally low or risk dying?

Umm... what?
Mumu, no leash. Needs protection or he fares badly. Very blue reliant.
Maokai just has to get there early and stack saplings.
Rammus, Shen and others, IDK. So... yea.

If you play solo top, you should also start with Regrowth Pendant and 1 Health Potion. That makes you incredible strong and you can rush philosopher's stone.

very nice i am used akali y think i do a good work i prefer use Flash and ingite but yeah and i prefer boots and 3 hp pots and get 1 kill fast ad buy ap power

But Heart of gold gives GP5 too, so getting Philo will not change your situation.
And try jungling too. Thats easy as Amumu or Maokai (not easy like junglers (WW, Udyr), but tanks can do it).
