"It doesn't matter why your channel is broken, it'll still do the damage it's supposed to deal.
I understand that the damage scales up the longer you channel logarithmically (so that if you break the channel instantly it does almost nothing, but if you break it just barely beforehand, it does almost full damage) but I've never done enough testing to find out for sure."
