Whenever I play Rumble and duo-lane (I solo lane mostly) I start roaming at level 6 because he has such a powerful ultimate on a short cooldown which many times will bag me a few kills. But is it worth leaving the lane for 5-7 min just to get a few kill/assist mid and top? Or would I be better off staying in lane last hitting perhaps getting one kill or assist?

It's debatable. Personally, roaming due to me greedy nature. From successful roaming you will achieve Gold, Exp, and the power to push lanes. Also gives the advantage of causing opponents to back off when they noticed you started roaming. I can say that Rumble isn't the BEST roamer compared to Alister/Eve/Blitz, but he has stable slows and a lot of burst.

ON THE OTHER HAND, staying in lane is a for sure way of getting money, exp, and push lane. Just slower. More like a gamble if you pick to roam. Maybe decide from the circumstances, low hp mid + growing minion wave. Good. Go roam. Full hp mid w/ flash + even minions. Bad. stay in lane.

Finally, it's good to roam anyways because it might lure other lanes to join the fight, give pressure, or free towers. So, all in all Roaming is my best opinion for you.

I mean sure you can put pressure on the other lanes but you're also losing exp along the way, whereas you can just have your jungler do all that. On top of that junglers get red buff and probably have a better ganking mechanism.

Meh. Well obviously, but without a jungler... (LOL) Rumble can pressure fine.
