I've found that Mumble has a lot less latency than Ventrilo. Also, it automatically normalizes the sound on the person talking, so no more screamers. It also has a very nice layover in LoL and other games. The only down-side is that when someone queues up to talk, it lowers your Itunes, or whatever music player you use.

Used to use Ventrilo and Skype, found that Mumble was a lot better. :)

Well if Dogchow had a job he could choose the obv. Paid service provides control over the dedicated server. Multiple rooms for different games. ie in-house games recquire 1 room to create and 2 seperate rooms for playing. You can invite and admin new people if you play with less than 5 everytime.

A high quality 10 man vent is $3/month or less. Uptime should be important if you are playing serious games.

As for PTT, use a proper keybind.. side mouse button or something of that nature so you can very easily use it. Personally use my thumb on my mousse as a PTT and it works great.

1st post and more made the account just to tell Dogchow to get a job and support his kids.

Have to say Vent or Teamspeak simply for its stability and the fact that will reconnect without you being bumped out of the game. Skype is definately good if you have a stable connection or just a small group of people you need to talk to, but since it wont reconnect to a call or rehost a call after a drop without having you jump out of the game for a second to boot it back up. Skype's audio quality is great too, though with Vent you can adjust individual volumes.

So yeah, Vent. Skype isnt bad either, just not made for gaming.

I actually like using both, Skype and Ventrilo, depends on who I'm playing with. It's really easy for me since I'm using Overwolf - it lets me use Ventrilo and Skype in an in-game UI designed for gamers. I don't need to use Alt+Tab and I don't to minimize my game. Everything is on screen whenever I want.

Eh, I say whatever works for you. I mean, Skype tends to have a very good voice quality and it can be up to 16 people in a call at the same time. Best thing is that it's free.

Vent costs money, but it can hold more people and you choose when to speak so that the voices aren't cluttered.

Really I personally prefer vent just because I live in a college dorm where people come in and out, so it would be very distracting if I had it on Skype and all my teammates heard what my roommates were talking about.
