Hi everyone,

Today I finally decided to get this game to a higher level, and for that, I need some help, badly.

First of all, my mind is made that the best stat to ever have in this game is CDR. Either being tank or caster, I think nothing is as much useful. Thus, after some maths, I decided to buy my Quintessence as CDR per level, stacking with masteries, bringing 16%.

And I always buy Nashor’s Tooth as a caster or Frozen Heart as a tank to bring the whole thing at 40%. However, people are often screaming at me that I’m noob, having a Nashor’s on a Soraka, my main. Well, even the attack speed helps to get last kills, doesn’t it? I just don’t know what I could do to improve, this item seems just too good.

I’ve been thinking about Deathfire Gasp, 15% CDR stacking with a Frozen Heart, having 40% with only items, but after some maths, I noticed the build did cost more in terms of gold in game, and that I would still lose some AP. Sure, on a caster, I would get an other ‘’spell’’ (-30% life) but still talking about Soraka, it doesn’t help me much.

Frozen Heart would maybe be better on her, but it’s more costly, and it doesn’t give Mp5 or any AP. What shall I do in this case?

Also, I’ve been reading guides and stuff since a while and I notice that pretty much all of them prefer to mix their runes. In my case, when I play a caster, for instance, I set my runes to ALL AP (per level, of course), but the Quint. It seems to be the best choice to my eyes, no? Can someone convince me otherwise? What about tanking runes, isn’t full HP the best, or mixed with armor/magic resist?

Another thing I would like to get more informations on is about the items giving gold per 10 seconds. They seem very good to me, aren’t they? A common build of mine is, on a caster, buying the +20 AP book, then converts it into the +25 AP 5g/10sec, then to Teleport back in the fight. It takes around 20 seconds to get it, and then… isn’t worthy? It costs almost nothing to make, and I carry those items until the very late game, when I have no use for them. I say them, because after this Kage’s Lucky Pick, I often go for a Philosoper’s Stone. Again, it’s just about 20 seconds to get for something that will give you 30g per minute. 60 if you have 2 items.

On Soraka, who doesn’t kill often, isn’t that appreciable? My AP runes help me for the lack of items at the beginning, and the gold made this way helps me getting better items.

I’m sorry if my things aren’t clear, I consider myself still new to the game and would really like to improve. Sorry for the spelling mistakes, if you guys have any questions about one of my point, feel free to ask, I really just want to improve.

Thank you in advance,

I wouldn't agree on that.
There are champions that benefit ALOT from cdr and some that can totaly ignore the CDR.

Atm the best statistics for damagers are Mpen and ArP.

Not sure about tanks since i dont play much of those. Only some Malphite and a little Cho.

For supports like Janna/soraka/blitz and so on so on i prefer aura buffing not my own CDR.
Did i help you? Click that +Rep

Thanks to jhoijhoi for the sig!

I think you missed the point in the 5g per 10 secs items. If you put some simple math to it you'll see that they aren't very worthwhile unless you're planning on using them for something else

So as far as my knowledge goes, you have 3 items that give 5g per 10 secs or 0.5g/sec. Those items are: Avarice Blade, Heart of Gold and Kage's Lucky Pick, the cheapest being Avarice Blade for 750g total. So:

0.5g ---- 1 second
750g ---- X second(s)

Basic math tells me that 750x1/0.5 = 1500 seconds needed for your Avarice Blade to start paying off which is 25 minutes... Well, some matches don't even last that long so for the very small increase you get from them compared to the raw item needed to build them, I don't think it's worth it

However, if you plan on using them to build something else on a mid run basis, being those a Deathfire Grasp, Ghostblade or Randuin's Omen, that's actually a sweet item. But if you're going to keep them until you get the chance to trade them for something powerful, well, I think you could buy any other item much more suitable

The problem with CDR is some champions wont get a huge deal from it. example, twisted fate who's ulti is what... 90 secs at max level, a 40% reduction would be just about 36 seconds, and THEN his gold card which is at 5 seconds (and change) will become 2 seconds.. (NOT SAYING THAT ITS A GOOD BUILD FOR TF TRUST ME)

but if you look at a low cooldown champ, ex. Akali. akali can either get this CDR for her already LOW cooldowns, or buff her skills with AP runes/magic pen.. it is all dependant on who you are playing.

With some 6 CDR runes + Tooth I got to a ~2seconds CD on Mark of the Assassin. That's pretty nice :P However, I've just begun to think about them AP blue runes. They're possibly more worthy then CDR ones on Akali, since the CD in any of her skills is already very low

But it's as Heat said, in some heroes you won't even notice any difference with that much CDR. Comes to mind maybe Soraka's Mana Spell or Blitz Arm. They have too long CDs to make a CDR build worth it

another thing, besides the fact that akali has low cdr, being a ninja thats not really a good thing. casting MotA every 2 seconds would take a TON of energy, which is something that you dont have.

as they said, its not really a good idea to buy the money per second items, as you don't get the DFG, and also the philosophers stone doesnt upgrade to anything. trust me, on crit builds i used to rush 3 avarice blades or so, but instead of doing that i can get the bfsword in about the same amount of time, which gives me great farming.

as previously stated those are great items, if you upgrade them. idk however about the cdr on soraka, as i've never played her i dont know what her cooldowns are in the first place.
