Season 2 Arcane: 9 Things We Learned From The Trailer

Arcane's Season 2 Official Trailer is finally here! Below is everything we learned from the trailer and what we can expect to see on the screen in November when Season 2 finally debuts.

Jinx Becomes a Symbol

After the explosive finale in Season 1, we didn't really know which direction Jinx was heading for Season 2. After all, what is Jinx without Silco? In the Season 2 trailer that came out two days ago, we hear Sevika addressing Jinx and laying out exactly what's coming. Jinx is becoming a symbol in Zaun. She was able to strike a huge blow against Piltover - presumably taking out (nearly?) the entire Council of Piltover. In the Season 2 trailer, she looks to be gearing up to do even more damage to the City of Progress, to the delight of the citizens of Zaun who have been waiting for a leader to rally behind.

In one of the frames, we see a newly-erected mural of Jinx with Vander behind her. While Silco most definitely had a larger effect on Jinx throughout her life in Zaun, it’s definitely more palatable to Zaunites to remember the noble Vander and rally behind his daughter, rather than the more controversial figure of Silco. The mural depicts several puffs of colour, which seem to be a reference to some planned attack Jinx will unleash in Season 2, going by some other frames in the same trailer.

Pit Fighter Vi Confirmed

In the same frame with a Jinx mural, we also see a first look at Season 2's Vi with a new and unexpected look. Enforcer Vi has already been teased in one of the very first looks at Season 2 by Arcane, but it seems this prim and proper look is only reserved for the day. While Vi is seemingly committed to Caitlyn’s task force, the one created specifically to stop Jinx, we can see that Vi is still deeply conflicted. After all, she is a Zaunite, and as we know, she still loves her sister. Wouldn’t it make more sense for her to rally behind Jinx in Zaun, along with the rest of her people?

This seems like it will be the crux of Vi’s development in Season 2 - who is she, really? And who are her people? We will see Vi struggle to adjust to life as an Enforcer, one that’s forced to fight against her own kind and against her only sister, while being drawn to a totally different life underground - a simpler life, where all she needs to do is crack skulls. In her pit fighter get-up, Vi seems more at home, and it seems like it’ll be during one of these fights that she will see Jinx’s new mural, and remember the difficult path ahead of her.

Caitlyn’s On A Warpath

While we still don't know the extent of the damage from Jinx's Super Mega Death Rocket! in the Season 1 finale, it's as good as confirmed that one sure casualty will be Cassandra Kiramman. It seems that Caitlyn is focusing all her energy in Season 2 on eliminating her mother's murderer. What remains to be seen is if Caitlyn can indeed go through with it - or, go through it with it unscarred.

As it seems Jinx is being mentored by Sevika in Season 2, it may be that Caitlyn is taking point from Ambessa - Mel Medarda's mother. It’s unclear what the state of the Council will be in Season 2 - if, indeed, there will be a Council at all. While we don’t know enough about Ambessa as of yet, it seems her violent personality and vengeful spirit will be shaping Caitlyn’s perspective in Season 2.

Ambessa Takes On A Prominent Role

As we already know, Ambessa will be joining the League of Legends roster this year, most likely around the same time that Arcane starts to air. It only makes sense that this means Ambessa will be taking on a far more central role in the second Season of the show. Unfortunately, this also as good as confirms the death of Mel Medarda, as supported by Ambessa's vengeful speeches and the imposition of martial law in Piltover in the Season 2 trailer.

It seems plausible that, because most if not all of the Council from Season 1 has been eliminated by Jinx, that Ambessa will be joining some tentative council in the place of her daughter. She is seen wearing both finery and a more battle-ready ensemble in the trailer. We got a first look at her fighting towards the end of the trailer, perhaps suggesting that she will be using some metal gauntlets and chains in League of Legends.

Ekko’s Z-Drive Is Here

In the final few scenes of Season 1 we saw Ekko teaming up with former Council Member Heimerdinger. It looks like these two geniuses will be putting their heads together in Season 2 and creating Ekko's iconic Z-Drive from League of Legends - a device that is able to rewind a few seconds of time. How this device will come into play remains to be seen, but it's sure to make for some incredible action sequences. We see the Z-Drive for a few blurry seconds on Ekko’s belt as he assists Vi in some aerial fight scene.

Speaking of, it’ll be interesting to see whose side Ekko is on in the upcoming conflict between Piltover and Zaun. The trailer seems to suggest he will be assisting Vi and Piltover, however, the remainder of his group - the Firelights - can be seen rallying behind Jinx at other points in the trailer. Ekko has, in the past, arguably worked against Zaun’s interests by opposing Silco, so he may be continuing that trend even if it means leaving the Firelights behind.

Jayce, Viktor, and... The Arcane?

Now here is where things get a little more cryptic. As neither Jayce’s nor Viktor’s fates have been confirmed following the finale, we haven’t gotten a real look at the characters in Season 2 yet.

We hear the words “The Arcane is waking up” spoken by an unknown individual in the middle of the trailer. We see several people hovering wearing various runes and etchings that look similar to what Viktor looked like while he was augmenting his body using the Hex Core in Season 1. We also see a hooded figure holding a strange, corrupted-looking circular object that could possibly be Viktor's Hex Core, or something similar to it.

All of these things could be connected to Viktor’s League of Legends backstory in which he is attempting to start a glorious revolution that would involve evolving the human race into a race of superior creatures made of metal. Instead of metal, Viktor might attempt to augment the human race using the Hex Core runic matrix in Arcane.

One of these augmented people could be Jayce, as we see a wrist with a blue crystal embedded in it, which looks very much like HexCrystal from the leather bracelet Jayce always wore in Season 1. The HexCrystal was given to him by a mysterious mage when he was young. If Jayce was nearly killed by Jinx’s attack in the finale of Season 1, it’s possible that Viktor was spurred to save him with his experimental technology.

Singed; and Warwick’s Entrance

Singed is an enigmatic figure and will certainly continue to further whatever his goals are in Season 2. What we know is that Singed was, at least somewhat, loyal to Silco and may now be loyal to Sevika and Jinx. Singed also has a hand in Viktor's revolution, as he was shown to have mentored Viktor for some time while Viktor was young, though it's suggested that some of Singed's methods repulsed Viktor. One of Singed's most important projects involves the creation of Warwick - the strongest and likely most deadly of Shimmer-augmented creatures we'll see in Arcane.

As many theorise that Warwick was in fact (highlight for spoiler) created using the body of Vander in Season 1, the teased conflict between Warwick and Vi is sure to be emotionally-charged and horrifying.

LeBlanc…?

Finally, another teased champion to join the roster of Season 2 Arcane may very well be LeBlanc, the Deceiver. LeBlanc is the matron of "The Black Rose", a secret organisation stationed within Noxus. The organisation's ends are unclear, but what we do know about them is that they strive to influence the world within the Noxian capital and, importantly, "beyond its borders" as well. With the inclusion of Ambessa as a major character, it seems likely that at least some other Noxian champions could make an appearance.

We briefly see a figure with Jester-like makeup, covered in shadows and thorns in the last few seconds of the trailer. While this doesn’t look exactly like LeBlanc, we have long known that one League of Legends champion would be getting a Visual & Gameplay Update based on a design from Season 2 of Arcane. Could it be LeBlanc? There are certainly enough elements in the design that could suggest a more interesting take on The Deceiver.
