TFT Magic n' Mayhem Patch 14.18

Magic n' Mayhem has received its third, and bulkiest, update! Read on to learn about all the changes that have gone live on Wednesday in Teamfight Tactics.

 In a Nutshell ‎ 


Welcome to our summary of one of the largest TFT patches in recent memory! This patch is not only large in quantity, but in quality as well. There are a few straightforward nerfs and buffs, but many of the changes have been outright reworks and new additions to the game. This patch introduces a kind of Magic ‘n’ Mayhem 2.0, so buckle up!

 Rotating Shop Infographic ‎


Chibi  Star Guardian Lulu is still available in the Rotating Shop in Patch 14.18, and can be acquired either through the Mythic tab of the store or by opening Treasure Bounties in the Treasure Realms tab.


New to Treasure Realms, we have one Little Legend and a snazzy arena skin. Chibi Battle Academia Katarina and the Blood Moon Night Parade, respectively. All three of these cosmetics, as well as Chibi Dragonmancer Lee Sin, are the highlights of Patch 14.18’s Mythic Rotating Shop. All cosmetics cost a cool 10 Mythic Medallions, a currency that can only be acquired by opening Treasure Bounties.


 System Changes 

The Golden Frying Pan

The Golden Frying Pan is a new item being added to the game! It's similar to the Spatula, except it's used to craft previously uncraftable Class Emblems, such as the Hunter or Mage Emblem. Ready to cook? Here are the recipes:


  • Pan + B.F. Sword = Hunter Emblem

  • Pan + Needlessly Large Rod = Mage Emblem

  • Pan + Recurve Bow = Multistriker Emblem

  • Pan + Tear of the Goddess = Scholar Emblem

  • Pan + Sparring Gloves = Warrior Emblem

  • Pan + Giant’s Belt = Shapeshifter Emblem

  • Pan + Negatron Cloak = Preserver Emblem

  • Pan + Chain Vest = Bastion Emblem

  • Pan + Spatula = Tactician’s Cape Emblem

  • Pan + Pan = Tactician’s Shield Emblem



Reforging an Emblem can now turn it into any other Emblem - craftable or not. So you can now reforge your Honeymancy Emblem and gain a Hunter Emblem, for example.

Tactician’s Tools; New and Reworked

The Tactician’s Crown has been reworked, and two new Tactician’s items have been added, as you can see from the recipes above!


The Tactician’s Cape increases your team’s max size by +1. Additionally, your team now has a 10% chance to drop 1 gold after 10 seconds of combat.


The Tactician’s Shield also increases your team’s max size by +1, and it grants the holder a chance to drop 1 gold when they die.


The Tactician’s Crown now also grants you a 10% chance to gain 1 gold when you win combat, in addition to increasing your team size as before.

When and Where to Cook with the Pan

Gold Orbs, Prismatic Orbs, and the Carousel now have a chance to have Frying Pans. There is also a Charm that can grant you a Frying Pan (Conjure Frying Pan), and two new Portal options: Frying Pan Portal (Everyone starts with a Frying Pan) and Let ‘Em Cook Portal (Everyone starts with a Spatula and a Frying Pan).


Item Removers

Item removers will be made more available so you can play more flexibly and itemize with more ease. You now gain an Item Remover from the first loot orb dropped each PVE round if you don’t already have one. The natural drop rate of Item Removers has been removed, since there is now a guaranteed Remover drop.

Four-Star Units

1-cost units can be upgraded to 4-star by combining three 3-star copies. This will be quite a feat to achieve in a regular game, but be on the lookout for the Worth The Wait augment that can make this a reality for you.

Armories

A small quality of life change is coming to Armories - shop takeovers that allow you to choose between a random selection of Items, Artifacts, and so on. There is now a reduced misclick lockout on the armories to prevent accidental selections.

Tome of Traits

The Tome of Traits has been removed from the game, since there are now even more ways to craft Emblems with the addition of the Golden Frying Pan. Drops that previously granted Tome of Traits (Prismatic Orbs, Radiant Blessing, Loot Subscription) have been replaced with content of similar value, such as additional Anvils, Pans, or Spatulas.

Shop Odds

Hitting 4-costs should now be more consistent at level 8. Level 8 Shop odds are now as follows:  18/25/32/22/3.

- Ability: For the rest of combat, Ashe fires an additional arrow at a nearby enemy that deals 30% AD + 5/8/12% AP physical damage. This effect stacks.


NOMSY (Dragon/Hunter)

- Nomsy Ability: Sneeze fire at the target, dealing 400% AD + 40/60/100% AP physical damage. 50% of overkill damage is dealt to the closest 2 targets.

- Dragon Upgrade: Deal 555% AD + 40/60/100% AP physical damage instead. Overkill hits 4 targets.

- Ahri primary orb is now a single target. It no longer deals damage to targets it passes through, or returns.

- Ahri’s orb will now redirect to a new target if the initial target dies mid-flight


CASSIOPEIA (Witchcraft/Incantor)

-  Empower the next 3 attacks to deal 135/200/300% AP bonus magic damage


SHYVANA (Dragon/Shapeshifter)

- Dragon (3) Bonus: Double the size of the aura. It deals 30% more damage.

The first target hit takes an additional 150/225/335% AP magic damage. If an enemy is adjacent, blink to safety before firing.


HECARIM (Arcana/Bastion)

- Passive: On takedown of the current target, empower the next attack to deal 120% AD + 80/120/195% AP physical damage. If the next target is out of range, charge to them.


JINX  (Sugarcraft/Hunter)

- Ability: Gain 125% decaying Attack Speed for 4 seconds. For the duration, attacks fire rockets that deal 100% AD + 16/24/36% AP physical damage and ignore 50% Armor.


MORDEKAISER (Eldritch/Vanguard)

- Ability On Cast: 10% Ability Power > 12% Damage Amp 


WUKONG (Druid)

- Passive: Combat Start: Gain 40 Armor and Magic Resistance. Lose 1 of each every second.

- Varus no longer ends his animation early to attack from midair

- Varus now prioritizes dealing the most total damage, rather than hitting the most targets

- Varus now deals damage to secondary targets more reliably by firing at each secondary target within three hexes. These secondary shots will track their target. He’ll still fire a few secondary shots to empty hexes, but this is just for aesthetics.

- Varus 3-star now hits in a one-hex-larger radius


GWEN (Sugarcraft/Warrior)

- Ability has new dash logic! She now dashes up to three hexes to the hex furthest from the most enemies that could still snip her target.


VARUS (Pyro/Blaster)

- Ability: Fire a supernova at a cluster of enemies within Attack Range + 1 hexes that deals 500/500/1000% (AD) + 50/75/200% (AP) physical damage to the target and all adjacent enemies. It explodes into a cluster of fireballs, dealing 40/40/80% of initial damage as physical damage to all other enemies within three hexes.

- Ability now can only target randomly between the closest 5 enemies

- Xerath ability calculates closest enemies on each blast launch, so killing an enemy gives you access to the next closest enemy

- Arcane Conduit (banned on 2-1): Arcana champions deal 10% bonus damage. If they start combat holding two items, they gain a recommended third completed item. Gain an Ahri and a Hecarim.


- Draconic Mastery (banned on 3-2 and 4-2): Dragons gain 10% Health and 18% Attack Speed. After Dragons score 60 champion takedowns, gain a Smolder. Gain a Nomsy and a Shyvana.


- Flexible Tier: Gold > Prismatic 

Flexible Number of Stages for Emblem: 2 > Every Stage

Flexible Team Health Per Emblem: 10 > 40

Flexible can no longer grant duplicate Emblems


- Frosty Frontline has been renamed and reworked to Winter is Coming

Winter is Coming: The Frost trait also grants one placeable Frost Wolf equipped with a Protector's Vow. The wolf gains 40% Attack Speed and 300 Health per Frost tier. Gain a Warwick and a Zilean.


- Pillar of Flame (3-2 Only): Gain two Shens. Your strongest Shen’s ability no longer grants damage reduction, but now summons a large molten pillar that damages enemies in a large line.

BUFF Called Shot - Set your win streak to +4. Gain 4 gold. [Gold increased]


NERF Combat Bandages I - The first time each ally unit falls below 60% health, they restore 100-220 health (based on stage) over 2.5 seconds. [Healing decreased]


BUFF Fine Vintage - Completed items left on your bench for 3 rounds transform into Support Anvils. [Turns to Proc: 4 > 3]


BUFF Good For Something - Champions that aren't holding items have a 50% to drop 1 gold on death. [Chance for Gold increased]


NERF Item Collector I - Your team gains 10 Health. For each unique item they are holding, your team gains bonus 2 Health, 1 Attack Damage, and 1 Ability Power. [Base HP decreased] [HP per item decreased]


BUFF Precise Planning  - When you win or lose combat by 3 or fewer units, gain 3 gold next round. [Gold increased]


ADJUST Restart Mission - Sell all champions on your board and bench. Gain 2 random 2-star 3-costs, 3 2-star 2-costs, and a 2-star 1-cost champion. [No longer grants duplicates]


BUFF Rolling For Days I - Gain 11 free Shop rerolls. [Number of Rerolls increased]



GOLD AUGMENTS

NERF High Horsepower (Lillia) - Gain a 2-star Lillia. Your strongest Lillia gains 125% Attack Speed and moves 75% faster. Her Ability deals 240% bonus damage, but only hits 1 target. [Bonus Damage lowered]


ADJUST Spider Queen (Elise) - Gain a 2-star Elise. Your strongest Elise's Ability no longer Stuns, but poisons her target and the 2 closest enemies with 110% damage over 4 seconds. [Bonus Damage lowered] [Duration increased]


NERF Witchy Wallop (Poppy) - Gain a 2-star Poppy. Your strongest Poppy's Ability no longer Shields, but strikes 3 times, dealing 75% of the original damage. [Ability Damage lowered]


NERF Zap Attack (Blitzcrank) - Gain a 2-star Blitzcrank. Your strongest Blitzcrank becomes supercharged, dealing magic damage to 2 nearby enemies every 4 seconds and on every Ability cast. [Ability Damage lowered]


NERF Sweet Tooth & Sweet Tooth+ (Nunu) - Gain 2 Nunus. Your strongest Nunu gains 100 Health and deals 200% bonus damage per 150 Health. Whenever his Ability kills an enemy, Nunu permanently gains 35 Health. [Damage per Health cap increased]


NERF A Golden Quest - The first time you have 175 or more gold, gain a 2-star 5-cost champion and 3 items tailored to them. [Gold Requirement increased]


BUFF Avenge the Fallen - After 3 allies die, your team gains 30% Attack Damage, 30 Ability Power, 30 Armor, and 30 Magic Resist. [Stat Buff increased]


NERF Bee-st Friends (Honeymancy) - Honeymancers gain 1 more Bee. When Bees jump to a new Honeymancer, the Honeymancer gains a 10% max Health Shield. Gain a Blitzcrank and a Kog'Maw. [Shield power lowered]


BUFF Big Gains - Your team gains 100 bonus Health, and permanently gains 12 Health every 2 takedowns. [Health gained increased]


NERF Category Five - Gain a Runaan's Hurricane. Your Runaan's Hurricanes shoot 1 extra bolts, each dealing 90% of the original damage. [Damage lowered]


BUFF Cauterize (Pyro) - Pyromancers' attacks deal 5 bonus magic damage for every 3 cinder collected. Gain an Akali and a Shen. [Damage increased]


BUFF Clockwork Accelerator - Your team gains 10% Attack Speed every 3 seconds in combat. [AS increased]


NERF Combat Bandages II - The first time each ally unit falls below 60% health, they restore 170-350 health (based on stage) over 2.5 seconds. [Health restored lowered]


Defensive Arts - [Disabled]


NERF Fortune Favors the Bold - Winning combat against a player will give bonus orbs. The longer your loss streak, the bigger the payout. [2-9 significantly lowered in value, 10-12 slightly lowered in value]


BUFF Heroic Grab Bag - Gain 2 Lesser Champion Duplicators and 9 gold.This item allows you to copy a 3-cost or less champion. [Gold increased]


NERF Item Collector II - Your team gains 20 Health. For each unique item they are holding, your team gains bonus 5 Health, 1.5 Attack Damage, and 1.5 Ability Power. [Health lowered] [HP per item lowered]


ADJUST Little Buddies - Your 4-cost and 5-cost champions gain 65 Health and 9% Attack Speed for every 1-cost and 2-cost champion on your board. [No longer counts non-champions]


NERF Potions 201 (Witchcraft) - Witch curses last forever. Witch Abilities also curse the nearest uncursed champion. If all champions are cursed, Witches gain 20% Attack Damage and Ability Power. Gain a Poppy and a Cassiopeia. [AD & AP lowered]


NERF Press the Attack (Multistriker) - Your Multistriker's attacks apply a stack on their target for 5 seconds. Every 3rd stack deals true damage equal to 4% of the target's max Health. Gain a Kassadin and an Ashe. [Damage lowered]


ADJUST Prizefighters - Gain 2 item component(s). Every 4 wins gives you an item component. [Number of Components increased] [Number of wins per component increased]


NERF Sleight of Hand - Gain a Thief's Gloves. Champions holding this item gain 100 Health and 20% Attack Speed. [HP lowered]


BUFF Trait Tracker - The first time you activate 7 non-unique traits for 1 combat, gain 6 random emblems. [Emblems gained increased]



PRISMATIC AUGMENTS

NERF Hard Commit - Gain a random emblem. Now and after each Carousel, gain a 1-star champion of that trait with a cost equal to the Stage (max 5). [Stage + 1 > Stage]


NERF An Upgraded Adventure - After upgrading 4 champions to 3-star, gain a magnificent reward. Gain 2 1-cost champions. [Starting units lowered] [Loot tables updated]


BUFF What the Forge - Completed items you own (except Tactician's Crown and Emblems) are transformed into random Artifacts. Champions gain 110 Health per equipped Artifact. Gain 1 Artifact Anvil. [Now grants an additional Artifact Anvil]

Game Mode Changes ‎

Reinforcements will now come a little bit later. However, player damage has been lowered in Stage 3 and 4, partly to compensate. Now, even if your partner can’t come and help, and you do lose your round, you’ll take less damage in the mid-game.


- Minimum Reinforcement Time: 7 secs > 11 secs

- Base player damage in Stage 3 reduced from 6 to 5

- Base player damage in Stage 4 reduced from 8 to 7
