How to snowball a game as a support

Ok so im finally going to start playing ranked frequently in hopes of at least getting gold division or higher and seeing as how i pick fill in ranked to go quicker I'm basically going to be playing a lot of support i can do fine vs the enemy bot lane but my 10 provisional games usually end up with one enemy champ getting fed and destroying us (fed fizz equals nightmare fuel) anyway i need some general tips on support roaming and other ways of getting my team ahead as a whole rather then just one lane (my support picks are usually braum or thresh)

    Once you win lane:

    1. Take enemy tower and/or push up the lane hard -> doing this gives you a window where the enemy bot lane is pushed back and cannot react (or they lose 2 waves of cs).
    2. Use this window to do one of the following: place deep wards in the enemy jungle on botside (this gives you permanent knowledge of the enemy junglers' position; if he doesn't show at one of your deep wards you know he's topside), roam mid (especially good if you have a support with lots of CC like Thresh or if you can take the tower against a low-waveclear mid laner)
    3. Repeat process: push up bot, roam, push up bot, roam.
    4. At some point you can repeat this process towards top side (once you've taken the towers mid/bot) and set up vision there.

Extra: if you're very ahead in a 4v4/5v5 situation you can also use this pressure to force dragons and perhaps bait a baron using lots of pink wards.

So, TLDR: you want to use pressure you get from winning botlane to help other lanes as well through a heavy emphasis on roaming and warding.

I suggest warding somewhere in a brush along the river with a pink ward, that ward will usually help mid lane survive ganks along with your own lane. Ward frequently and call out any summoners that people use in lane, that will help other lanes if they end up engaging with them and need to know what to fear / play around.

Some more useful things you should try to apply to support games are:

    1. Ping whenever you see the jungler on the map, this alerts your team to his presence and allows them to play more aggressively / defensively depending on where the jungler is situated.
    2. Roam frequently when you know your ADC is safe to afk-farm, but if you do then keep your bot lane warded and let him know by pinging "on my way" and head where-ever needs help.
    3. Don't be afraid to build a little bit of damage into your kit, as Leona & Blitzcrank I tend to build Iceborne quite often due to it helping burst people and prevent then from outlasting my stuns.
    4. Potential items that can help obtain an advantage on a lost game are Banner of Command & Zz'Rot Portal, using these in the lane opposite to an upcoming fight/objective can create a huge pushing advantage, for example if we are soon to fight for baron then I will sneak to bot lane, buff a canon minion and drop Zz'rot in a brush near the closest living tower, then once you get to baron and start fighting you'll be pressuring two key areas.
    5. Remember your role, if you are the primary tank then you may need to engage for your team, and if the enemy has assassins then you will need to protect your ADC.
    6. Finally don't be afraid of invading the enemy jungle 6/7 minutes into the game, drop a ward in their jungle and go for the kill if you think you can get it, but be sure to play safe!

A lot of these are subjective to how well you are doing, but in the bot lane one of the most important things to do is deny the opponents CS, force them out of lane, get kills on them or push the tower. These 4 components make up the bot lane goals that you want to achieve.

Quick little tip is that most supports before there first back will roam to the mid lane to have a cheeky gank and try to get the mid laner some sort of advantage.

There isnt a clear cut answer when you're soloQ support. Back in s5 supp was my least played role and now I main supp because of how well you can bring back a game even when team is falling behind. My main supp champs are Thresh and Braum. (I will play Blitz and Morg once in a while but never in Ranked).

Biggest thing is communication and warding. Without those two you will essentially loose lane, and more likely than not the game. Even if your adc is being a *** hat and talking ****, just ignore it but dont mute them (unless they just wont stop). And right at start explain some of your champs mechanics, I dont know how many times I have thrown my lantern at my ADC and they just ignore it and died.

Early game: This is where you'll get a feel for your ADC and vice versa. Talk to each other, ping, ask them to drop wards here and there. Help ADC farm and stay alive that is pretty much it. Tell your ADC to let minion wave to push or go in for a kill. If your adc is bad or new, try to make it explicit that you're going to play defensive till you get the feel of the ADCs skills then change tactics. If both you and your ADC are comfortable with each others skills play play aggressive.

Mid Game: This is where roaming is important. If you're winning lane roam when enemy bottom laners are missing or when you see that the enemy supp it with top lane. If the lane is at a deadlock and other lanes are winning ask for help. If you're loosing lane, dont back often and try to keep your JG and ADC alive at all costs. If that means throwing yourself into line of fire or shielding them instead of you. Depending on type of supp champ, either you are the front line or you are utility based, you'll have different roles in team fights. As for me, I almost always build tanky so I usually initiate team fights unless there is another tank that has better tools to initiate.

End Game: By now you should be a massive tank (if you'r playing tanky, cant really speak for mage supps). At this point if your team loosing its your job to take over control and start directing people.

As for warding. You never stop. You should always have 3/3 wards + pink down entire game after building sight stone. Always tell everyone to buy pinks.

If you want more in-depth stuff or want to play a game or two with feel free to message me!
