Views: 793 please help me get started in ranked
|
Hi there,
I have been playing league since the release Cassiopeia so i do know the game pretty well, but have never played ranked until this summer and just got ranked silver II with 6 wins/ 6 loses. Now that I'm trying out ranked i don't want to go any further without some sort of help.
So i was wondering if you all can look at my profile and give me any suggestions or tips on my rune pages, masteries and any other tips. I am planning on get two more rune pages and what i had in mind was maybe using the pages for each position. If there are any questions on which champs/ builds I use ask away.
Any sort of tip would help thanks.

I don't think i have a main role but this is what I usually play,
Top: Irelia (one of my mains) or Fizz
Mid Ap: Syndra, Ziggs and rarely fizz but for Mid Ad:mid Ashe(main) and Kog
Bot Adc: Ashe(main), Kog, Tristana
Bot Tank: Maokai(Main), Nunu, Amumu
I have also been trying to learn how to support but can only do Kayle at the Moment. And also trying out jungle Amumu.
Simply put, Early game is the key if you want to carry. Jungles like udyr are designed to be a hgue presence early in order for those of higher skill to make 'plays' of sorts. Then you get jungles like sejuani who have a massive presence in game, but rely heavily on their team and so will fail if their team fails.
However, I only used this mindset to carry myself out of bronze and silver. Once I entered gold, I immediately went back to playing the role I wish to get better at (which is adc).
alright, so in bronze and silver you're aiming to get yourself out of rather then really improve as a player. Normals would be better for that then those elos (generally, there are quite a few exceptions as good players do exist in those elos excluding smurfs). Well, that's in my case, let me put it another way.
Once you feel you are in an elo where your teammates and enemy's have a general knowledge and understanding of the game, I believe that's the point where you start playing to get better. If you are playing with terrible people in very low elo, playing to improve really won't help you that much.
tl;dr lower elo, say bronze and silver, is better to play in the mindset that your team is going to fail you and you should be focused on playing to carry yourself. Higher elo, say gold and above, is the point where you should focus less on carrying your team and more on improving yourself as a player.
BE POSITIVE and just fyi, don't rage because then people will quite likely stop taking the game seriously anymore and probably want you to lose with them
Yeah, remember that it's just a game and be prepared to lose, because you will be doing a lot of it. Take your loss in stride and figure out how you could learn from the loss. Maybe that 0/9/3
You can't control what other players on your team do; the only thing you can 100% rely on in solo queue is your personal skill, which means solo queue success relies heavily on how much you personally have mastered the game. Don't cry over spilt milk, and just remember that no one plays perfectly, not even professionals, so there's always room for improvement. Missed a CS because you didn't manipulate the minion line well? Made a poor decision and fed first blood? Don't agonize over the decision and just remember to do it better in the future.
(I got that mindset pretty quickly because this was repeated to me countless times)
First of all, what Satella said is completely true. People who play rankeds just to win, often end up losing them. While people play rankeds like they were normal games, just a bit harder (the lower elo, at least), usually end up having ~55% win ratio.
Decide the role you want to play the most, but you need to have like three champions from every role you are decent/good with.
Read general guides about positioning, stutter step (especially if you are ADC)

I highly suggest approaching ranked with the latter mindset.
and all that bs about people saying they never get their role in ranked is false, even in low silver ive gotten my main role (jungle) nearly every single game so dont worry about that
