Err to be honest both AD and AP Kog'Maw are relatively niche right now.
AP Kog isn't played atm because:
1) He doesn't have enough consistent burst / damage output
2) He has huge mana issues...

Casters don't grasp every single detail as to why pros build / play certain ways, which is why pro explanations are different.

It's like what everyone else mentioned. Udyr overall just has issues being a strong pick because he's melee and has no instant gapclose. He's relatively easy to predict and doesn't contribute much...
