"Haven't played anything related to Season 3, but in Season 2 anyone who wasn't stupid could kite him once team members started to walk together. I find him a ridiculous champ, "oh so gud" in lane but then most of the times can't do anything right.

It's not, and it makes more sense this way. karthus's passive needs him to die, while GA prevents death. So following your reasoning, it'd be "Karthus dies, passive kicks in and deals damage, is revive,"

Tryndamere is terrible in ARAM, he can't do jack unless his team comp is able to do things. He is 100% team comp reliant, and gets carried by the comp itself.
