I see many people getting a Hextech Gunblade and a Guardian Angel, what do you think?
I'm not trolling: Frozen Heart is a better item on a lot of champions than Thornmail. Do not add it in the main build but it is a good optional item.

How about an Abyssal Scepter instead of a Void Staff? Since Akali is melee she could use the MR.
I suggest upgrading Ignite in the offense tree. Mental Force is not that good of a mastery, anyways.
