Hey there, K0R3 here with my second and final post on top of my Sona experiences!
In this post, I'll lend you my experiences with an AP-build for the (generally) support character and how I feel about it's synergy and viability in play.
Let me start off by saying; I still prefer this champ on her intended role. This could be solely due to the fact that I prefer playing support on bottom over AP toons in mid or otherwise. Regardless, Sona's AP build-potential is ridiculously fun and an all around blast to play.
Game one attempting this build I went mid, with Warwick in jungle, Tryndamere in top lane with Blitzcrank and Ezreal in the bottom lane.
Their team was running a Veigar opposing me in mid, with a Fiddlesticks jungle, Garen on top and Karma with Tristana on bottom.
Going in, the match up seemed rough, as I've always preferred a Fiddle jungler over Warwick and all to often a bad jungler can throw a game in the trash before anyone can do anything about it. Also I was nervous about the bottom match up because I know extremely well what Tristana can wind up like if she's fed and preferred her late over Ezreal.
Once the game was underway I picked up a Doran's Ring and a ward over potions. (terrified of that jungle!) and made my way down mid-lane, meeting Veigar and getting off the first poke and making it away without a response, this repeated 2 times before minions finally spawned and the match actually got underway and the gold/levels started rolling. I basically knew in this match up, first kill had an entirely lane changing impact and once Veigar get's going he's a nightmare, so I kept poking him, kill-less until I hit 6 before him and I wanted to pull the kill before he did. I eventually made my move when he was about half health, making sure I had a power-chord ready for a double damage attack and crescendo was a virgin-to-casting in this game. I sprung, popping e, then r and then 2 shotting the rest of his life away with q/basic attack. Good jobs all around for me, and then a turret push resulting in it's demise with help from Warwick.
From there, Veigar was essentially my *****. You feed Sona once, you feed her again. AP was stacking, Lich Bane in hand to further increase power chord basics and eventually a Rabadon's led myself and our Ezreal to impressive scores mid-game. With her versatility I pulled off a 7/0/1 record before my first death and at the end of a game a 13/5/11 record and a victory under my belt.
Sona's versatility, speed, sustain and eventual team fight changing CC's make her a solid choice for anyone looking to try a new AP champ or someone looking to have a lot of fun in normal queue.
That's it for today's post!
