Only engage when your counterstrike is up because it'll cut the damage from decimate by a bit as well as not allow him to use crippling strike.
Jax will win a bit post-6 as well because his ult gives both resists.

"I've always thought of [Abyssal scepter as core for frontline mages like Gragas, Annie, ect. But, mainly after other items that contribute to damage more.
