"What global objectives? The only ones I have seen are those capture/defend quests where you have to cap an enemy point while defending your own. And one of the points you have to defend for those quests is ALWAYS either the top or the closest-bot point (assuming you hold them), so you should already"

"So far I have to agree with the OP. However we've been sending only one person to bot today playing a champ like Kog'maw or Karthus who can defend points for ages even when outnumbered, sending four to top and then having most of them stay top while the others roam a little."
