I've been playing AD carry a LOT lately, sometimes o do really really really good. Mostly with tristana or mf. The thing i've been doin' is rushing two phantom dancers first. This usually works awesome, mostly if i manage to get a few kills early. I find it soooo much easier 2 farm with the attack speed. I'm not sure this is the best way of playing AD carry though, but yeah. Worked fine so far.
The way the game works AD, crit and AS all scale with each other so the best way to play an autoattack carry is stacking all three together. People commonly make the mistake of going way too far into one stat.
Sooo, same price, same damage, more HP in the end. But yea, getting 2 dancers+IE+some other crit item is plain hilarious, but it isnt reliable at all against mid to top ELO players (say, 1350- upwards)
IE double pd + trist Q is just hilarious .. well more of a troll build but it's quite fun

The only time when you can do significant damage is when you stick onto the target and beat them to death with fast, but weak auto attacks. This is usually a bad idea because it promotes overextending in some cases to get off your damage. Instead, by building damage first, you get better poking power, and since both
As for the farming, you should really learn how to last hit :P
If you're having trouble last-hitting with a particular champion, I usually go into a custom game for a few minutes and try to rack up as much CS as possible. That way, you can used to the attack animation of your champion, as well as better know your champion's farming abilities and better knowledge of when to last hit a minion.
