Do I think he deserves 8 years in prison? obviously not.
Do I think he deserves some form of punishment like community service? probably, it was a threat, albeit it was sarcastic

"I would be highly skeptical if the Muslim Brotherhood won. Morsi was strongly supported by the Muslim Brotherhood and he overstepped the bounds of the constitution Egyptians put in place. Pretty much led to his demise."

Egypt Launches Military coup to oust President Mohammad Morsi
Morsi cannot be found, the Islamic Brotherhood has subsequently gone underground as a result of the coup d'etat.
