"You can lane mid with Caitlyn just fine. Other ADCs, not too sure. Never seen them mid minus an occasional lane swap (and even then those are incredibly rare in solo queue, I've only seen those in ranked 5s). "

"The Doran's Shield start leaves you wardless and thus I don't really take it I can get bush vision easily (Zyra, Lux, etc.) I also buy a large number of wards + oracle's early and mid game, which leaves me with not enough money to build Aegis/Bulwark. I just get my jungler to do it.
