"Also the original support query said that Microsoft was shutting down the service the 1st July, but it was quickly deleted and now Microsoft backed from that statement, while essentially still shutting down the service."

Games for Windows Live is DEAD!
The fucking atrocity known as GFWL is now dead as of July 4th.
There will be no new game using the service, but games that are already using it will be supported... for now.
