How ya doin guys?
Terra here back with another blog. I know it's been forever, long story short is I got a job working 6 AM to 2:30 in a warehouse quality line. It's a lot harder work than I thought it'd be and I've found a bit less time to play games.
Here's the deal though, it's not as bad as it sounds. I wake up at 4 and get ready for work, get home at 3 and I can play. I go to bed at 10 and do it again. schedules are different though, 8 AM schedules usually let off at around 4 and you get home at 5. This kinda sucks, you don't have as much time to play, so let me give you a few tips.
To play league and stay at a decent skill level and even rise in it, you're gonna have to play often, and get stuff done. Many early morning people (such as myself) tend to play in the mornings before work if they can (I cannot). if you work at 8, wake up at five, get ready to go to work, and play a game. Just make sure to start the game around 6 AM or 6: 30 so you can get one in before going to work, because you never know when you'll get that hour long game!
Go to bed at a decent hour, but that doesn't mean 9 PM! I go to bed at 10 or 11, sometimes 12, and wake up at 4. If you get used to waking up at a certain time, going to bed late and waking up at that time with a good breakfast and a shower will only bother you for a week or so. If you REALLY want to play league, play it at night after dinner for a few games!
Take care of family obligations after work. I know, we all want to rest and relax after we get home, open up the client and pwn some noobz, but you can't. Do your chores, talk with your family, take care of your kids, play with them, do whatever, BEFORE you open up the client. Once that client opens you'll be lost to the world.
Play in the living room, not the bedroom. This is a shocker I know, but it helps. Plop on the headphones, skip the mic, your friends can read and you can ping. if you're downstairs at least they know you're playing, and at least they can still talk to you, and if your kids like to, they can watch!
focus on a few champions, not a lot. This is a good general tip even if you don't have a job, but its even more important when you do. You don't have as much time to play now, so you need to focus on a set of champions rather than a lot of champions. I tend to play 3 games a day, if I play league.
Have a snack and a drink nearby so you don't get to tired in the middle of the game. I chose juice and pepperoni/salami/other deli meat most of the time. A quick drink or bite will definitely keep you moving, and it'll allow you to play more games because food gives you the energy you need!
Eat a good breakfast. This is a give in. If you come home with no energy you wont want to play, so if you get a good breakfast and eat a healthy lunch you'll manage even more.
Avoid the energy drinks. I don't always do this, sometimes I wake up in need of one to get through my day, and I grab one, but you shouldn't drink these on your shift, they'll get you through your shift but you'll get home groggy and tired.
Leagues a very demanding game if you want to be good, you need to play at least a few hours a day to keep improving. But if you work, it can be hard. If you're smart about what you eat and how you sleep, and have a good schedule plan, you can find the time to do it! I work full time week days, and enjoy being with my family, but I still find time to play league and other games because I've planned it out, I get a good breakfast, and focus on the important parts of my job first. It can be tough, especially if you have kids, but you'll find a way if you plan for it!
