Views: 971 Why I don't think ELO Hell is as bad as they say
|
I hear people complain about ELO hell all the time. I'm here to say something. ELO hell isn't that bad. I have friends who are in Bronze V right now. All they do is complain about how teammates lose them every single game they lose and they only ever do anything in the games they win. Good examples of this kind of player are people who are bronze V with over 500 ranked games. If you're bronze V with 500 ranked games, it's not ELO hell, you're just bad.
A prime example is people who say " I went 14/0/2 in ranked and lost, ****ing ELO Hell"
this statements pretty dumb. If you're 14/0 and you can't carry baddies vs the baddies you got fed off of, you're bad. Think about it, if you're 14/0, you can probably instakill their threats, especially if you're playing a bruiser. Heck if you're playing a bruiser you might even survive.
"omg supports dont ward enough" is something else I hear a lot. Yes supports ward, but you know who else wards? Everyone else. If you're complaining that your team isn't warding enough, start warding and grab an oracles. You're 14/0 after all, so oracles is a good buy on you.
"my team fed to hard, I can't carry"
Now I'll admit, there are times where this statement is true, maybe you have a bot lane that's died 16 times in a row, and now they just run in head first. Yeah this happens, but 0/4 top and 2/3 ADC isn't to fed, yet I see people complain all the time about this one, where they have more kills than the entire enemy team combined but claim feeders lost them the game. Don't bother with this excuse unless it's actually true.
"OMG MY JUNGLER DIDN'T GANK ME ONCE"
Yeah, ok, maybe your jungler can't gank you. Counter ward and dont go 0/3 before the jungler is level 6 and maybe you'll get more ganks, but honestly, I'm not going to gank a 4/0 shen whose warded well, it's a waste of my time.
"OMG I'M BEING CAMPED"
This is something that I can understand. Yeah, getting camped sucks, yeah, it happens. Here's the deal, There are only a few junglers who can really camp you if you ward extensively, and well. If say, mid and jungle are always coming down bot, or going top, that I understand, its 3v2 or 3v1. it sucks. But if Vi is always in your lane, just ward and play safe bro, stop trying to fight your lane opponent, and don't get baited. Remember, if they dive you early game, they're essentially free, turrets do a lot of damage, and very few champions are tanky enough pre 6 to take it. If you're at 100 HP and staying in lane vs a TF or a Xerath or a Jax or Draven, that's your fault.
"my team is stupid, they don't know what split pushing is"
then don't do it. Simple as that. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. If your team gets killed when you do it, you obviously didn't have the map pressure and presence you needed to do it, so don't do it.
"My team won't listen to me even though I'm so fed!"
then don't issue commands, issue pings and reason with them, don't just get angry that'll make them listen less. If they really won't listen just report them, nothing you can do.
"I had an AFK!"
thats a shame bro. It happens a lot, even in silver and gold, not much you can do about it, and it's not your fault, just fight hard.
"My mid never Roamed!"
ever stop to think they weren't playing a roamer? or maybe they're too roam? It happens man, Anivia isn't going to gank as good as TF, and Viegars not going to be able to roam if he's down 3 kills.
"My jungler didn't give me blue!"
to be honest? if you're losing lane, I won't give you blue. If the enemy can just come in and instagib you I'm keeping it, and I'll smite it away from you any time you try to take it from me, giving the enemy two blues is really bad.
"my jungle keeps getting countered"
well then, ward. not just the supports job, Janna isn't coming all the way up from bot to ward your blue while they're in lane, and she's not going to ward your red either.
"MY ADC IS SUPER BAD SHE DOESNT HAVE PERFECT MECHANICS"
no one cares. Gold players don't have perfect mechanics, and some plats don't either. I don't care if you're perfect CS with anivia at 30 minutes and your positioning is perfect and everything, not everyones as perfect as your perceive yourself to be.
"everyone fed so hard and I'm 10/1/0"
alright, ever thought about helping the team? don't just beat up the same guy over and over, beat up everyone, if you get a lead, snowball that lead and control other lanes.
"our teamcomp is bad"
I didn't know team comps were good up until high gold, I thought it was just "chose whoever could snowball the hardest and do it." Teamcomps don't matter when the players don't know how to play that comp. I can pick a full AoE comp and if people don't know how to string the abilities together it'll go down.
"but shuru ELO hell DOES Exist! Every single game is bad!"
Look, ELO hell is just this thing used to describe a place where all bad players go. Sure bronze V sucks, but it's not impossible to get out of. If everyone in Bronze V is bad, and you're so good, why aren't you stomping?
If you have 500 games in Bronze V, and you're 400-600, let me put it like this. You belong in bronze V and are there for a reason. It's not because your mechanics are bad, which they probably are. This games not about perfect mechanics, it's decision making, it's map vision, awareness, making good calls and plays. you can get all the farm in the world but if you can't position yourself in a place where you can use that advantage you're not going to win.
my point is, if you're going 14/0 every game and not winning, and not carrying, and you just can't win a ranked game, you're not as good as you think you are. YES there are unwinnable games, and uncarryable players. YES a lot of this stuff can often times not be your fault. and YES people feed a lot at lower ELO and get outplayed. But stop and ask yourself "how can I make this better" instead of complaining, look at the enemy team.
Maybe you didn't realize that the enemy team is all AD, or all AP, or that MF has 20 out of the 23 kills they have. Instead of whining and complaining do something about it. Look for ways to make the situation better.
Lets say you're TF, and you've snowballed your top lane and snowballed yourself. Your jungle isn't that good, all he does is farm and he has no pressure on the map. it's 20 minutes and the enemy team hasn't even seen him yet. bot lane is pretty close to Even but it looks like draven is getting a slight lead on ashe, you know ashe has CC and her support is thresh vs the enemy sona. So ult down to bot and CC draven down, you should be able to instantly lock down and kill him with the combined damage.
Now here's that same scenario, only instead of going bot lane, you decided to farm up for your zhonyas hourglass instead, you're 14/0 in lane having ganked top. You get the gold and go back, in this time draven has got a double kill and picked up his IE. Now draven has 3 damage items, and every time he comes into a fight from now on he instagibs the first target he choses. Meanwhile ashe has to farm because she's so far behind and only has an IE and a zeal.
This entire scenario could have been changed if you had roamed bot instead of farmed an empty lane. Draven carries and you blame your ashe for losing lane, even though she outfarmed draven.
Look at the situation, is it really something you can't change? is this REALLY ELO hell?
to end, I'd like to say that people who think they can't carry, probably could carry if they just attempted to control the map. Being 14/0 is no good if you spend all of your advantage free farming.
This was quite the long post, so I apologize, It was just a lot of information to jam in about ELO hell. My question for the day is, Do you think ELO hell exists? And why do you?
I'd love to hear opinions on this subject, as it's quite a controversial topic, but I don't want it to stem into an argument, so please try and keep it calm.

Nah. Not in ELO hell. I'm in bronze I, and thats because I don't play ranked.
If I were butthurt or something I'd be the one complaining, not telling people to stop complaining.
Honestly, if you're going to comment, be useful. please? for once in your life?
you realize this is me you're talking about here right
if you look up troll in the dictionary...it would say something like "noun: see Nighthawk"

mad cus you cant get out of elo hell
umad?
Often after a game where I'm duoing, I criticize what a team does badly, but I include myself in that also.
I saw Zekent playing on a Silver smurf today, he completely roflstomped his lanes and then stomped the lanes next to his. You could clearly see that he didn't belong in Silver (or even Gold). The difference was just so huge that he could practically carry the whole team. Though, to be fair, he was duoing, but that duo was a Silver I. My point anyway is that if you don't belong in that tier, it will quickly show and you WILL get out of it. The difference in skills would just be too obvious.
If you're just killing the same ******ed nub in lane, but don't spread that advantage to other lanes, that's still a mistake on your part.
