I've taken a look at Morde's starting health, armor and MR.
HP: 421
Armor: 15
MR: 30
As you can see, our Morde is extremely squishy early game. Seeing that, I'd recommend starting out with a Doran's Shield for the HP, Armor and HPregen. I"
