Views: 3310 Hot Teen Guys' SoloQ AD Carry Tier List!
|
So - a little background on me (The list's below. You can pass up this part if you want):
I had been maining old Sivir through all of S1 and made gold with her. This actually caused people to ask me to stream and I did, and it became semi-popular back then (was on the solomid list just through having 160ish viewers). More recently, the thought of becoming a bit more of a competitive player hopped into my head. I talked to my only friend who I really thought might be interested in competitive play and had the skills for it. We sort of settled on me practicing AD carries till I was at the very least competent with all of them, but good with a few. Later, when we made the team, I'd just fill the AD carry/support roles as needed.
Since this and since season 2, I had a rise in ELO (though currently in a slump playing supports. :P) and I've actually been seen by a select few of you mobafire goers on high elo streams like Dan Dinh's, Elementz (He was nice to me today. Said I played support better than most 1900s :D), Dyrus' (Although only once), etc. So, I've been playing with AD carries a long while now, and I've been playing a lot of solo/duo with the role, and I know a bit of what I'm talking about here. (Though don't take me to be THE FINAL WORD. This is just who I feel is good in SOLOQ. Not 5 man premades or anything.)
And to be honest, I don't agree with where people are placing some ranged carries at the moment. So I decided to make a tier list with only these champs so that I could go a bit in depth with each. So without further adieu, the tier list!
The Tier List
Disclaimer: This list is for SoloQ only. Some champs are bumped up and down if you have a well coordinated team, or a team built around the carry. Everything's situational in premade 5s.
Tier 1:
Vayne, Caitlyn, Sivir
Tier 2:
Tristana, Ezreal, Graves, Corki
Tier 3:
Miss Fortune, Twisted Fate, Ashe
Explanation of Tiers:
Tier 1:
Tier 1 champions are those that just seem to beat all the others in SoloQ. They're here because they excel in SoloQ for one reason or another.
Tier 2:
Tier 2 champions are still powerful in SoloQ - but they're just not up to par with tier 1 for one reason or another. This could be for many a reason, which will be explained.
Tier 3:
Tier 3 champions just don't stack up to any of the other tiers by any means in soloQ for reasons explained below. They're lacking in some department that makes them bad to pick when not with an organized team.
Individual Champ Explanations
Tier 1

Vayne is a monster of a late game carry. In the end of the game, no other AD carry stacks up to her in a fight unless she's caught off guard. In a 1v1 situation, she beats almost every champion in the game. And, while this game isn't about 1v1s, you'd be surprised how much you can pick someone off on the enemy team in a 1v1 fight in SoloQ. Overall, vayne has everything an AD carry needs for soloQ: Decent lane phase, high damage midgame, hypercarry lategame.

Caitlyn is the singlemost safe pick in SoloQ. She dominates the lane phase, and she has no real hard counters. Some people will make the claim that cloth armor 5x health pot beats her, but in reality, she can harass right through those pots while remaining completely safe, too. She's put this high for a few reasons: 1.) She doesn't have a hard counter champ in lane, so she's safe to pick before they've picked their AD carry. 2.) She has incredible lane dominance and in SoloQ, it's SUPER important to get through your lane phase ahead. 3.) Her long range makes her less reliant on her team to have good positioning, and in SoloQ, teams rarely have great positioning.

Currently super underrated. Her attack range is short, but she makes up for this with incredible amounts of burst and lane clearing power. She can freeze a minion wave at her tower incredibly easily and just as easily can push the wave hard enough that it resets to the middle of the lane if she's pushed too far on accident. Her trading power is bananas, especially when her W crits someone, and new boomerang hits like a wizard dropping a planet on you. Along with this, her steroid is huge late game, especially on a team with other auto attackers.
Tier 2

Hyper carry late game with the best AD steroid in the game. She also has incredible laning power with super high burst. Put her with a sona, and you have a guaranteed kill at level 6. Tristana can bulldoze the most passive of laners, and in the late game has all the range of cait, but with the best steroid in the game. Very, very strong pick.

Way stronger pick than people realize. His passive steroid helps him out through the entire game, not just late. However, he can also give his friends a mini steroid as well as do mass AoE with his ult if he's ahead. Shift gives great mobility that many AD carries crave. All around good champion.

OMG WHAT GRAVES OP WHY IS HE SO LOW WTFWTFWTF OMG.
Got that out of your system? Good. Here:
In SoloQ, Graves is an OK pick. He has good laning, nearly hard counters vayne and has potential to full team burst. So he should be high, right? Yes and no. I tend to agree with Doublelift here: The problem with graves is his attack range leaves him open to SO MUCH from some picks of both supports and ADs. Caitlyn, who's super popular right now, pretty much hard counters graves with her range in lane. His range also puts him within range of almost every single disable in the game while he's last hitting. And if you can force him out of a ton of CS, you can make him nigh useless to his team. As such, he's really unsafe to first pick in SoloQ IMO. Along with that, his steroid, though good, requires he sacrifice all of his mobility in the late game, and that's just sad to do :(

Just a solid champion. Does high burst, has an armor shred and some true damage. Pretty strong pick all around, just not up to par with caits lane dominance or anyone elses late game.
Tier 3

While she's underrated as a pick, and generally can do really well in lane in SoloQ, the problem with MF is just that newer champions are cramping her old design. She used to kite well with that passive. Not anymore with all the other MS passives. She used to have a strong ultimate for AoE damage. Not amymore with spells like boomerang and rico. She used to have a strong steroid. Not anymore with steroids like vayne's, Siv's, graves'.. Etc. Her late game has just become kind of, meh.

Why are you not playing him AP carry? Seriously, his AD is just nothing to marvel at right now, even with that range increase.

Oh my lovely bow wielding carry... How I am sad to see you down here.
But in reality, it's true. Ashe has plenty of good things for organized teams with all the utility she gives. But in SoloQ, you can't force your team to play around your arrows. She lacks a steroid which makes her late game struggle compared to all other ADs, and she has no escape. Pretty much Ashe is a giant arrow wrapped up in a quiver of kiting power. And that's just not needed amongst unorganized teams.
Conclusion
Welp, that's it. Hope you liked it. May update every now and then, but yeah, this just gave me something to do! :D
