"I would definitely consider stuff like hybrid pen marks, hybrid pen masteries and blade of the ruined king instead of hydra. I've played a lot of shyvana myself (only in SR though) and I feel like these work better than the things you've mentioned. "

"Agreed with Tadpole: xin zhao is pretty much the high risk, high reward version of Jarvan IV. He gets outscaled really hard if he falls behind, but boy, if xin zhao starts to snowball, you're fucked. I believe he's one of the hardest snowballing junglers out there. "
