I just played my first 5 ranked games.(went 3/2)
And i gotta say, ranked sucks, it's full of trolls and kids, I hate it.
It's just like falling back to lvl 10 where no jungling/supporting exsists.(even though i supported 2 times)
Am in 1242 elo now and i can say if you want to play something competitive, play draft or Team ranked.

I have now about 600 wins, still not deceicive about going ranked.
My problem is that I always read "that I have to carry harder then they do";
Problem: I mostly enjoy jungeling and support, could do the lanes as well, if needed, but not so much interested.
From my experience in normal games I must say that with 85% of the champs I play I am totally team reliant, if my carries do not react to a gank or to a succesfull initiation, then my impact on the game is not big enough to take their carry out of the equation.
Guess I have to wait til I find somebody I like and trust for duo queue bot or ad / jungle , mid/ jungle...
The problem isn't that it''s too hard or that the other players are too good but that there are a whole lot of trolls, flamers and wierdos.
If you're determined to rank, then tough through it and rise above. The only way to get out of low elo is to carry yourself out by snowballing harder than the best enemy player. If you play better than your elo suggests, you should be able to stomp pretty hard in most of your games. As long as you win more than you lose you should be able to climb out without a problem.
If ranked isn't for you, don't feel like you have to put yourself through it. Arranged queues, normal games and ranked teams are all alternative ways to play the game and I find them more enjoyable. Just keep in mind that while ranked 5s is more reliably competitive, it's also a lot more difficult than soloqueue because the enemy team will be as coordinated as you are. Make sure you have a solid team before you start queueing. ^^
