Varus is super strong early game; that is why you play him. Although his kit is still good but yes, more utility-based and a bit less damage late game, he usually gets pretty well fed if you play his lane right."

"^Wrong. You can build carry items on even Cassi and you will be doing tons of damage late game. As an AD with a standard build, he naturally scales well late.
And his kit is exceptional for late game -- % health chunks, healing reduction and AoE slow for fights, AoE snare for fights, and AoE Q "
