"I guess so - but "Playing AP" doesn't imply that AP is the minority of your build and in fact you're not what's commonly referred to as an AP caster/carry anyway.
Agreed though, those two items do work extremely well - WotA is great for a dual mage set up, it was all just top of my head"

600 health is a LOT. It's barely gold down the drain when it lets you sit in lane for SOOO much longer. It does save you from harassment, they can't walk towards you and do it since they walk faster...
