"I agree with Jebus, but I think that Elementz was just describing a typical build that he likes, I'd assume (emphasis on assume here) that vs hard CC teams he would also go with Merc Treads or another tenacity item."

Improved smite is not needed, pretty much ever 5 seconds isn't going to make too much of a difference, and the gold bonus is terrible.

"As said, he can jungle, you need dodge runes and masteries.
It's best to have a strong tether/leash in case your counterstrike does not proc at all.
He has a much stronger solo lane presence though, and a pretty good duo lane with a support."
