About This Team Comp

4 Vanguard 4 Marksman (which will be referred to as 4V4M) is a tempo composition that rewards HP preservation, but caps out pretty low. Often, you'll be bleeding into a 3rd or a 4th. It's a very straight forward, item hungry composition. Item augments are your number 1 priority.

Make sure that on level 8, you aren't spending all your money to find your 2 starred 4 costs immediately. You want to be able to proc Golden Ox on multiple rounds to increase Aphelios' Damage amp. Scouting is crucial. If you are heavily contested, you may not have the privilege to care about the Golden ox stacks.

One of the biggest mistake players make is not scouting on 2-1. If you see multiple players playing this line, it's highly advised that you play something else. The line already caps out pretty low, so to play a line that doesn't cap out very high while contested is just a recipe for disaster.

Additional Pointers
Try to play Anima Squad instead. It caps higher, easier to stabilize on 8, and uses the same 4 cost units (Leona/Xayah). The only reason you would play 4V4M instead is because you have great Aphelios items alongside your Xayah items, and already have the 4 Vanguard frontline. Also, make sure to prioritize Xayah items before Aphelios items.

Your best option for early game is to play around Kog'maw. He can hold any AD items and do well. Generally, you can itemize a Guinsoo and then flex between 4V4M or Zeri/MF. Slam a guinsoo early if you have it.

Focus on maintaining tempo. Typically, if you're going to play 4V4M, you'll likely find yourself with a 4 Vanguard frontline for midgame. Below is an example board.

Marksman Miss Fortune, which replaces Kindred or Jhin. You can play 2 Vanguard, 2 Bruiser, 3 Syndicate, 4 Marksman on 8 if you really need to stay on 8. Hat on Miss Fortune.

You can play this variation if you have a ton of HP and are already level 9. The goal is to slowly pivot into 4 ox and use golden ox mods on units like Zac to cap very high. It's not very often that you are in a position to play this. Zac 2* will be your main tank over Leona.
