About This Team Comp
There are two big mistakes that players make when playing Anima Squad. The first big mistake is over prioritizing Xayah and Leona 2* on level 8, causing them to over-roll, and then getting stuck on level 8 for the rest of the game. By preserving your HP properly in the early game, as long as you are 7 Anima on level 8 with at least 1 Leona, you should be relatively stable to get to 9 (assuming you have a different upgraded carry, eg. Yuumi 2* or even Seraphine 2*).
The second big mistake is playing Anima Squad without scouting. If you scout on 2-1 and notice that 2 other players are likely playing around Vanguard Marksman and/or 6 Ox Force, you should consider playing a different line. When Leona is over contested, you are often forced to roll heavily on level 8 to secure your Leona 2*. This can be detrimental because this composition requires you to cap out on 9 with legendaries.
Additional Pointers
The comp becomes S tier with the right augment combinations. Support Spire, Little Buddies, and Bulky Buddies III are a few that really stand out. Quality over Quantity used to be high priority but got worse since the item rework in Patch 14.4.

Recommended Augments

Early Game (Stages 1-3)

During the early game, you should prioritize tempo, HP, and Leona/Xayah items. Warmog's on Leona and Infinity Edge on Xayah is mandatory. Everything else is very flexible. Slam your items for tempo. Don't be afraid to also slam AP items if it preserves your tempo. Seraphine/Yuumi can hold your AP items.
Mid Game (Stages 3-4)

During the midgame, be flexible when it comes to what units go on your board. Since the trait has a bastion (Illaoi) and Vanguards (Sylas/Leona) built into the trait, you can flex a ton of frontliners. Shyvana is great for Bastion/Techie when playing around Seraphine early, and Jarvan is great for 2 Slayer if you're playing around Vayne. Below you can find a ton of units that are great to flex onto your board during the mid-game.
Late Game (Stage 5+)

On level 8: Viego is better than Jhin if you don't have an Aurora. Renekton is better than Jhin if you don't have 3 item Xayah. Make sure to not over roll on level 8 so that you can get to 9, and cap out with legendaries. On your stage 4 rolldown, keep an eye out for Renekton and Sejuanis. You can use these to fortify your frontline if you find them early, and prevent over rolling. Just make sure you have 7 anima active as soon as possible. Below is an example of a capped out Anima board on level 9 without an emblem.
