About This Team Comp
I have won 1st place several times with this team comp, and when I don't win 1st, I almost always place top 4. There are times when I don't get lucky in rolls for items or champions, but more often than not this team comp is a good carry for 4th or higher in my experience.
The items for this team are just recommended items in general, you will not be able to get all these items for every champion, however you can do your best to build around this type of item set up for the RNG that is item drops.
In this team comp, Aatrox, Varus, Nocturne, and Vel'Koz will be your top damage dealers/carries. Aatrox will likely die first from your carries, but he should have a good run due to the item stacks and regen.
Leona and Rell are both more or less added as a tank to soak up hits as much as possible, and to stack the redeemed set to 6. Leona and Rell are likely the first ones to die but do their jobs to soak up as many hits as possible, to keep enemies off your carries.
Ivern and Volibear are added for CC+the revenant set, which gives your damage dealers a chance to deal extra damage uninterrupted and will allow them to revive once without guardian angel, giving you potentially more CC and more damage and tanks to soak up some more hits for your carries.
Syndra is a medium damage dealer, not quite at the bottom but not quite at the top. Her main goal is to take off assassins or other threats to your carries, and toss them hopefully far far away. CC+damage, and added sustain to your carries will help them survive longer. Items that help Syndra get her ability up quicker will help significantly.
Aatrox does well with bloodthirster due to his ability, which regenerates health based on his damage using his ability. The shadow item Archdemon's Staff of Immortality also plays off of his healing. Guardian angel can be switched out for Warmogs for more health (being able to take more hits) or Blue buff item, or the shadow item of blue buff; Very dark blue buff (More mana to stack on Archdemon's Staff of Immortality)
Varus does well with Guinsoo's and Sojin's because his ability buffs your party members inside of it, as well as damages enemies. The more it's up the better.
Nocturne will do well to heal himself with his ability and bloodthirster, the more he attacks, the more he heals and is able to stay alive. Titan's resolve works well for him due to being an assassin, he will be hit often and gain stacks quickly for further sustain.
Vel'koz can deal massive amounts of damage with his ability to multiple enemies on the field at the same time, so buffing his ability to the max will benefit the team greatly.
