Introduction

I'm still experimenting with the builds...as soon as I've found out what works best with her I will update it.

Hey, this is my guide for the new champion Leona, actually it's pretty simple but I wanted to share it with you 'cause for me it worked actually pretty well and I saw many Leona's going for ap, I think that's not worth it cause the effect from your ap to her skills isn't that high. Leona is an very good tank, her dmg output is good in early-game, it isn't enormours, but still noticeable so that she can take out squishys.

I know, it's a simple guide but I wrote it with accuracy and patience, so that everyone gets easily into the ****. The build is nothing special too, but I will write a next one soon that's more specific.
But for now this build just works fine for me, I will add a screenshot too that will prove it.

Pros / Cons

Pros :
- good basic HP
- W skill grants you much armor and magic resistance
- easy to get kills in early game
- squishies are your best friends ( you can take them out easily )
- chasing skill
- 2 stuns ( ultimate is a mass stun, but only for enemies in the centre of it, others just get slowed )
- grants crowd control
- ultimate has long range, but needs minimal time to appear, so try to get the right timing for it

Cons :

- long cooldowns at the start
- the rate that your AP takes effect on the skills is low ( but she's a tank, no caster! )
- damage output is a bit low in lategame
- you are very team dependant

Runes

I take the armor and magic resistance because it grants that you can lane longer and the bonus will make it easy for you in early-game.

It super adds up with the armor and resistance we gain from items later.

When you've got your Eclipse skill active enemies will have it very difficult to kill you.

Summoner Spells

I actually use Flash and Ignite, instead of Flash you can use Ghost too, whatever you like more, but I advise you to take one of these, Flash or Ghost, these are always usefull when you have to escape or catch up someone that's running with low life.
Remind that your E skill is very usefull if that happens too, but for escaping i always prefer Flash. So fellas it's up to you.

Summoner Spells that i would also advise :
- Heal, always usefull when the situation in a teamfight get's barely.

- Cleanse, removes all stuns, slows, taunts, fears, snares....well, self-explanatory.

Summoner Spells that you shouldnt take :
- Clarity, because actually I never had a problem with mana with Leona until now, but if you feel like you would need it, take it.

- Promote, useless.

- Rally, only good for first blood, so I wouldnt take it.

- Smite, this is no Leona-Queen of the Jungle guide, accordingly no Smite.

Summonner spells that aren't listed here are mostly situational-related. I mean sure you can take Teleport if you feel like you need it. Revive has a very high CD and the Guardian Angel can replace it for you, there are more important things. Clairvoyance, actually a good one, can save your or your teammates ***es if there's an upcoming gank and the fellas want to biff you on the nose.

Masteries

Gives you bonus on your defence and mana regeneration which is very usefull.

Skill Sequence

Alright..errrm.
In 3v3 I start out with Q, Shield of Daybreak (the stun), you can pick out the squishiest enemy, tell your mates to focus him.
A word and a blow, you stunned for example Annie, your whole team attacked her, and she's dead in less then 3 seconds, and if you're a bit tricky you can try to last hit her. :)
In 5v5 i start out with the W skill, Eclipse for longer laning, 'cause you lose less hp if you're attacked and you have nice aoe damage.

Skill Combos :
Q Shield of Daybreak, then W Eclipse, then E Zenith Blade, then R Solar Flare.
Q to make stun ready, then W to make the shield ready, choose your target and wait until its behind the others or alone, then use E in his direction and engage. You will stun him, he will deal less dmg and your shield will explode then. If he escapes you can use your ulti.

You could also keep your E ready if he tries to escape.

Keep in mind that it's worthless if you just use your ultimate to deal some damage, use it wisely, you can stun and slow a whole team, so dont waste it on one because you are kill*****.
Leonas skill's work together in sympathy, sounds gay, I know, but it's true, it's not like one of her skills would be really useless, no.
You can do nice combo's with them, I really think Riot did a good job on her.

Shield of Daybreak can muck up Tryndamere's ultimate Undying Rage.
Just one example how you can use her skills.

Items

Usually I would go like this :
Start out with a Doran's Shield, next time you're back buy another Doran's Shield, they give you better survivabitlity and armor. Else I would start with Regrowth Pendant and Health Potion.

Next thing will be Mercury's Treads or Ionian Boots of Lucidity for lower cd ( Leona with very low cooldowns is amazing!). Last choice is Ninja Tabi, it gives a good amount of dodge and + armor, and they're cheap.

Now you've got to look, 1. are the enemies dealing way too much damage ?
2. or are you not taking much damage ?

In the first case you have to look what kind of damage in the enemy team prevails, AP or AD.
If AP prevails you should go for example for Force of Nature, or Banshee's Veil.
If normal attack damage prevails go for Thornmail or Randuin's Omen
If the enemy team contians many melees with much attack speed buy a Frozen Heart, that should stop them.

In the second case you can go for a Sunfire Aegis, or Warmog's Armor.
I'm not sure about Warmog's Armor, actually this is always my second item, if you have a easy early-game you can go for it, but you can buy it later on although.

Alright, now you should go for Shurelya's Battlesong because of the cooldown reduction, that's very usefull, gives you more flexibility in fights.

Last items are situational-dependant too.
For a bit more AP and HP take Rod of Ages.
If you didnt buy Shurelya's Battlesong you could buy Glacial Shroud now 'cause for cooldown reduction.
If you get fed -> Leviathan, helps you to stack a lot of HP.
If your Team hasn't got a slow you can buy Rylai's Crystal Scepter...but that won't take much effect on your skills damage.

By the way,
you surely dont need to buy 2 dorans shield's when it's going well for you and you got the money, then just step over to the next item.
I think it gives you a good survivabillity in the earlygame and hp regen which is important.

Important : I saw some people playing her with AP items...in my opinion that's not what she's meant to be played. Her damage ratio is low, if you want to do tons of damage you should take real casters like Annie, LeBlanc.

Alright, other builds I tried :

Another actually good working build : Start with Regrowth Pendant+ Health Potion, then Regrowth Pendant to Philosopher's Stone, Berserker's Greaves or whatever boots you prefer, Wit's End, Warmog's Armor, Atma's Impaler, then Philosopher's Stone to Shurelya's Battlesong at last Zeke's Harbinger or Madred's Bloodrazor.
This build gives you a good damage-output and survivabillity.[/color]

Next one is another off-tank build : Start with Ruby Crystal, Mercury's Treads, Rod of Ages, Rylai's Crystal Scepter, Abyssal Mask, Lich Bane, Trinity Force.

Farming

Last hitting, last hitting, last hitting, last hitting, last hitting, last hitting.
That's actually all for the beginnig.
Then you can use your W if many mobs around you are on low health and you have the mana.
On level 6+ you can try go jungling, as soon as you have your Warmog's Armor, that's no problem anyway.
Next thing is the Sunfire Aegis, always a good farming item.

Laning/Teamwork

I noticed that Leona is amazing on a lane with a ranged Champion like Caitlyn, Miss Fortune, Twisted Fate, Nidalee.
Yorick for example is a good ally, because he can spam his skills and keep the enemies on low HP, then you have to wait for the right moment to strike and the kill is yours, or Yoricks.

On the lane you have to pick a low HP enemy out and wait for the right moment to stun him, your partner should be ready to attack and it's a fast, easy kill, just as we want it.
For me this worked ALWAYS. But dont be too hasty, else you could fail.
The good thing is that your E skill allows you to pick the squishys out and chase to them.
Dont waste your Stun on mobs, always wait for the right moment or to save a mate of yours.
If you notice that the enemies abuse their tower and dont get out of the range of it, just keep the ball low for some time until their mobs push back yours, so they need to come out of the tower's range, else they dont get exp.
But if you get pushed back hard, just play passive, but I dont need to tell you, you already should know that.
In mid-game and late-game make sure you're really tough enough to tank your enemies if not it's hard to win teamfights.
So if your team is already flaming around, calling you noob, instead of building you up, and you know you're really useless, it's not only your fault. lol.
Sometimes items like Heart of Gold can help out, earning money over time, the main thing is that you dont feed.
I know that's easy to say, but not easy to do sometimes.
Back to track.

Summary

Alright that's it for now, I will keep this guide up to date and publish another build soon that's more specific, for now don't be too hard on me, it's my first guide.
I'm always open for new advises and ideas, keep 'em coming.
And never forget you're a tank, no uberkiller like freakin' jax.

Hope you enjoyed reading.
Well acutally just have fun with this build.
