No.. not many people play Dominion anymore. It's just an alternative game mode. It was a bit more popular until ARAM became an official mode. Personally, I like Dominion but I'm too impatient to wait the long queue.
Give it a try if ya want, though. Capture-n-hold style gameplay so it's a lot of smaller skirmishes. The bot-lane of dominion feels like top-lane of SR.
