Heh, my mains in the support role are Janna and Naut, and my previous ones were Braum and Morg *brofist*

I have the same "issue" with some champions (Nautilus in particular). Sometimes if I feel that "I have to tryhard this normal game" I make those picks and play it like a ranked game.
I'm betting this happens a lot in the support role, where having fun and making a good pick are often mutually exclusive choices.
Also,
I don't get this. I'm betting you're talking about the fact that you can't duo with people from 2 leagues above or beyond yours (gold players can't duo with bronze nor diamond players). And the question seems unrelated.

I have the same thing, though mostly the other way around. A lot of the champions I play in normal games I don't play in ranked. I've been playing some
Lissandra lately, but I'd never pick it in ranked. Same goes for
Blitzcrank these days.
As for champions I only play in ranked, mostly
Janna,
Shen and
Syndra, though I play them sporadically in normals.
I get what you're feeling about the duo queue thing, I usually also prefer going solo in ranked. Makes me feel more in control.

Basically what Legend's saying. I used to try to Duo every time I played ranked but I feel I do exponentially better in Solo Q. And your champ picks, God bless. Those four are so godlike.

I don't do duo very often, but when I do it's because A) I don't share main roles/champions with that person and B) We have some way to synergize (an orianna main for my malphite, a mid main to camp him as jungle, a higher ranked laner so I go support).
Duoing for the sake of having fun with a friend often ends up in awful picks and awkwardly lost games.

Usually in normal games, people don't play champs that you use in ranked games, unless you don't want to lose.
And no matter how much you play, some champs are just not meant for you because some champions require a very specific play-style that may not fit very well for you.
However, as you progress, you most likely will change your main, most played champion.
Therefore, knowing to play a lot of champs help you later on when you think you need to start choosing different champs in ranked.

If you play as
Miss Fortune try to hit the second shot of
Double Up to enemy champions, better if you got the enemy minion/champion killed on the first shot. It is also adviced that you should put a stack of
Impure Shots if you want to make sure that you want to hit the
Double Up accurately on that champion for the second shot prioritizes units with
Impure Shots. The active also in
Impure Shots makes a good recovery from losing
Strut.
Make it Rain… to be honest, it's useless most of the time. But there are a few times when that ability is good. Slowing enemies in choke points on the jungle, setting up
Bullet Time are examples. Her ult,
Bullet Time, is a good ability to do wombo combos in League. Now it has an AD scaling and the
Impure Shots passive makes her a terror now in team fights. You need proper positioning though, for you're effed out if you got caught in a team fight. You're dead and useless if that happens.

So I just recently got into Silver I (at least going for gold, started out season Bronze II) and I main support. I've noticed that I use some champions in Solo Que but very rarely in games with friends. When I'm with friends I play champs like Thresh, Blitz, and a couple of off-meta/metamancing supports. However, when I play ranked, I play almost exclusively Janna, Braum, Morg, and Naut. These champs are pretty great and can do a hell of a lot of work in a comp that works. Just curious what you guys play in ranked that you don't do in norms, or do you not divert between them?
Another question, I found out I can't Duo for the life of me for some reason. Anyone else find Solo Que way easier?
